    He told me that at one point when we really did think Australia might be invaded they moved three squadrons of fighters (including his) to various spots on the WA coast.
    It was a pretty boring posting being a long way from the real action, so the pilots used to amuse themselves by flying a hundred or two miles out from the coast to meet the incoming Catalinas that had made the extremely long trip from somewhere in Asia.
    The Spitfire guys would scare the crap out of the Catalina crews by practicing intercepts on them!

    A stunningly sensible and beautiful response to the requirement to house eight guns in a staggered formation.

    Reminder for Qlders: the 20th anniversaryDavid Hack Memorial show is on at Toowoomba airport this Sunday 20 May. This is a fundraiser for rotary and features classic cars, bikes, trucks, machinery plus aircraft fly-in and the Guido Zuccolli collection of planes. I' also told there will be a Caribou parked and avaialble for walkthroughs on the day.

    Just got a message that Goodwood Revival special event this year is 100 year anniversary of the British Airforce - I would imagine some pretty amazing stuff will turn out for that!

    For all interested in WW2 history I’m currently watching “WW2 in colour” on Netflix it’s a fantastic series great colour footage lots stuff I’ve never seen before,great for WW2 aircraft fans
