Awesome! I did the Japan Airlines Polar Route a few times in the 80s... amazing views; but the timeshifts did my head in - stopover in Anchorage from Copenhavn to Tokyo and I know it was 10:30am but I never figured out whether it was Mon Tue or Wed?
The Dyson of the sky’s to sease production. https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-updates/airbus-announces-an-end-to-production-of-the-a380-superjumbo/news-story/ac19c3269908665dc79c4527913a3f4a
Nice from a passengers perspective, though. As a passenger, it’s A380 first, then B787, B777, B747, daylight, more daylight, A330/340, and then whatever rubbish is left over. (Haven’t been on A350 yet) I hate the fact that accountants make these decisions. Soul-less ****s.
They make more money filling them on a 4 hour regional flight than having them do what they were built for. Transpacific , Europe etc.... They are already parking them in the Middle East awaiting their 777 X orders......Total HOS...The 350 is really fuel efficient but it can’t carry any belly freight unlike the 777.....
I was working at QF when the 380 was introduced, a friend in load control told me they could not fully load it of the US for performance reasons and the remaining load was carried by the following 74, which was made to slow down as company policy was it wasn't to pass the 380. Engineering colleague told be they couldn't use full power on take of as the struts couldn't handle the thrust. There glued together which is nice but ding the fuse and the repair is far more extensive than the riveted Boeing's. I didnt mind them as a Pax as they were quiet but the noise in the crew rest from passengers annoyed the off duty tech crew.
I’ve only ever been in Business Class in an A380. Probably 6 times with Singapore and 2 times with Emirates. It was very impressive as a passenger and I was really excited the first time I flew on one. In fact I still remember it. I haven’t been on a Dreamliner as yet, however I’ve heard that they are even better. Not as roomy but much quieter. I’ve also been told that they reduce jet lag because of the way they fly? Is this true?
I believe the Cabin pressure is higher ie the cabin feels like you flying at a 6,000 ft altitude instead of 8,000 ft and they a have a more higher cabin humidity up from 20 to 25%

As clever as you might be, I’ll be surprised if you actually get this right but you will get it once you see the answer. They say it is common sense but here is a Clue: Just remember that a helicopter's blade (in cross-section) is shaped like an airplane's wing, and both catch air giving lift. Now answer the question…. This should be an easy quiz for those who have even a modicum of knowledge about aircraft. However, the answer may surprise you. The Question: "What is the primary advantage of rotary winged aircraft over fixed-winged aircraft?” Image Unavailable, Please Login I got it wrong too!
There use to be an aircraft tutorial called Dr FOD and the wayward body where a woman would have all her clothes sucked off her by a jet fighter plane I'm sure the PC crowd would have had that one banned
Was watching this today and thought it was Gary giving Steve a lift to the US (Steve is the little ferret in the jump seat ) but then I realised the pilot was working and the co-pilot did very little so it couldn't be Gary ..... there was no Chardonnay in his hand either
