The hoses on the 550 under the intake plenum are notoriously weak. They updated them with the 575, silicon, identifiable by a white stripe on each end They definitely should be replaced if they don’t look like that
Great roads out there, even if I came from the other direction. I actually enjoyed driving the 400 - lots of high speed sweepers and long straights. And the auto kicks down perfectly for an overtake - 160kph in second. Good country pub, too - half the price and double the serving size.
Already done Greg....Found out the hard way though , as I blew that hose just after I bought the car....Luckily I stopped straight away so no damage...Still busy replacing all the other hoses...The power steering hose being one of the worst offenders as well....My car has always run hot in summer so I am going to try a full radiator flush....
I literally crapped myself as steam was pouring from the front end while giving her a bit.....My first thought was 12 cylinders, this is going to be expensive....
blew a water hose on my old 365BB soon after I bought it. Following a mate on a motorcycle, Old Pacific Hwy heading to Mt White. I heard a bang and all this smoke (steam) filled my rear vision. Stress levels DEFCON 1
and change the coolant to Zerex G-05, at 33% concentration. The higher the coolant content, the less efficient the heat transfer. If you change it every 2 years, you wont have a problem with corrosion.
