The UK seems to have an endless supply of massive tossers who make BS videos.

It's simple Adrian, find an ex-owner of a Murcie and ask them the running costs. NOT a current owner, a current seller or any mechanic whose income depends on a supply of fresh suckers.

I have participated in an engine removal and refit in a Countach. It's a nightmare. The engine+gearbox is 2/3rds the length of the car. The engine bay opening is 1/3rd. You need the engine at more than 30 degree angle, which means the gearbox is about a metre below the bottom of the car at the critical points, so the car has to be high in the air on a hoist.

Everytime you pull an engine, you have to deal with deterioration of fasteners, bushings, hoses, wiring, etc. It gets gradually more difficult, time consuming and expensive. Any italian engine more than 10 years old will have oil leaks, including gearbox leaks. It's rarely "just" a clutch swap.

I must correct myself. My earlier post said "Any italian engine more than 10 years old will have oil leaks, including gearbox leaks."

It should have said "Any italian engine more than 10 years old, plus any Porsche/VW engine just out of warranty will have oil leaks, including gearbox leaks."

[emoji23] lol, I don’t know, I think we’re all crazy to take on these old cars, especially when you see some of the bills[emoji849] there’s just varying levels of crazy [emoji4]
And thanks Ian, I always appreciate the knowledge and input [emoji120]

Yes Ian…I was going to purchase Pierre’s one about 5 years ago…RHD manual Murce..When he compared my Ferrari running costs with the costs of running the Lambo I quickly realised it would not be viable even if he gave me the car for nothing…Everything you spend on your Fcar to keep it sorted you x by 5 on the Murci…If things go wrong it’s mega dollars…

I've mentioned on here before that the workshop I rent space in has a name for solving difficult engine problems. For a few years there, Murcies would arrive on a flat top every few weeks. Endless obscure faults that either prevented the car from starting or lit up the dashboard warning lights. Early Aventadors were similar.

Now he's the go-to guy for Cayennes and Macans. The tow truck guys must love them :)

The best day in my life was when I saw the Cayenne go down the driveway and out of the gates for the last time….That HOS cost me so much money when it went out of warranty….

    Dodge a bullet..

Not from maintenance cost but from all the choices you’ve to deal with.
you’ll be like Casanova in that thing and you have only one passenger seat.
