I've been doing a bit of research into home garage auto stacking systems. This one looks interesting and appears to be compatible with my space and use requirements.

A search of the forums didn't return any results. Do any members here have any experience with this system or know someone who does? If not I'd still welcome opinions and comments based on what you see here:

    Thanks for the input.

I had seen an article recently also and was very impressed. It wold be perfect for my use but also found it to be twice the cost of a 4 post.

As for Bendpak you are correct.....

Yes, it's more expensive than many four post systems but its footprint and total volume are more suitable to the space I have available for it.

i have been researching/pricing lifts for a year since we need 6 of them.

so far we thought we were going to get the bendpak 2 post parking lift that has the posts in the back and a cantilevered platform. the lift rating is 6000 pounds i think, but the problems i saw were the high bottom arms, the angled control arm, the general build quality, and the level of guarantees. $3500

i then came upon Advantage lifts, which only makes a 4 post unit, but the build quality was superior to that of bendpak, and it was slightly cheaper $3000. but it was a 4 poster.....if we got 6 of them it ended up with a lot of space taken by the posts, but the doubles alleviated that slightly. still undecided on this tradeoff, but my dad tilts towards the bendpak design.

i sent him the link to autostacker last night and we will discuss today. their price is semi ridiculous at $5k, and just from a price perspective its not as interesting. i suspect that with a multiple order we will be able to get them down to about $4-4.5k range, but that is still more than the others. is the design worth more??

would love to see one in person.

Jack - I like the one you posted but here are my concerns:

    - Door access

    - Having the controller be floor mounted (perhaps they have another option - I only looked quick)

I've got the American custom lifts single post life installed. I was also slightly concerned about stability, but this thing is rock solid. Can send pics if you are interested.

The autostacker is pretty cool. I've not seen one.

I share your concern on single post and even double post lifts. Especially, in Florida. God knows what's up with the rebar? IIRC, the spec was 4" concrete and I had 6" heavily reinforced floor area put in where my lift was. That said, I've never heard of one failing.

so far i have not been able to convince dad to pass on the $3500 bendpak.

thing is, we have not seen that one, or this autostacker, in person.

nobody near him seems to have one.
he is an engineer so he really wants to inspect the units to get a feel for them.
we have time, but not forever....

I still haven’t purchased a lift, and i’m still interested in the Autostacker.

Has anybody here had experience with it since we last posted?

    Thanks.

Thanks. Can you tell us something about your purchase, delivery and installation experience? There’s no dealer in my area so i’ll have to find somebody qualified to do the assembly and installation.

Purchased directly through their website. They provided a list of installers. I had installer take delivery and think I paid $1500 for install. Not sure if your situation, but I had to have an electrician run a 220 and have my garage door high lifted. Ended up spending quite a bit but it works out nicely.

    Thanks.

I would need to raise my garage doors as well and convert to wall mounted motors.

Any advice on potentially troublesome delivery or installation issues to be aware of?

Some pictures of your setup would be great.

I’ve got a bendpak 4 post, works great. If I remember it was about $4k installed. You will definitely want side mount openers, lift master 8500s are awesome.

I would pay to install, the bendpaks use a pulley system and it’s a pain to route and then calibrate.

The four post also didn’t need to be bolted to the floor, just another thing to consider. [IMG]

The Autostacker installer is coming next week to do a site survey, so there’s step 1.

    Update:

The Autostacker recommended installer did a site survey and said he could install in one day, no problem. He will also connect me with a competent company to do the garage door conversion.

I’m getting closer to a purchase decision. If there is serious interest in a possible group buy, let me know. I’ll see what I can find out.

I just noticed that the Autostacker weighs about 3,600 pounds. When fully loaded, that would be equivalent to about 3 vehicles parked in one spot. Be sure your garage floor can take that much weight. I assume the rep looked into that issue for you?

We didn’t discuss that specifically, but the sales rep told me that my floor (4.5” poured concrete, 5 years old) would carry it. It’s worth reconfirming, though.

As to the issue raised by John in post 23, what is the thickness of your garage floor? Do you have any concerns about it supporting as much as 9,000 pounds including the weight of the Autostacker?

    Thanks.
