I have a steel roof w/ ridge venting all across the peaks (see pic) that are a magnet for black birds, AKA Starlings I believe. They make a huge mess, are noisy as hell and clog my vents w/ nesting material. I NEED THEM GONE!! I have tried a fake owl (they were landing on it within an hour), a pellet gun (they scatter as soon as they see me and send out a warning to all of their friends), and even going on the roof and pulling out all the nests that I could reach, spraying what I couldn't reach with poison, and they just come right back. Any suggestions as to what to do to get rid of them? I am thinking about some type of berries soaked in rat poison and put up in their nests, but I am unsure if they will fall for it, the little f***ers are smart. Thanks in advance for ANY help. Jerry.

    That will teach 'em!
We had a bird problem at our camp a few years ago, we had a metal roof and we used tar to fill the gaps. But then again this was pretty deep in the woods and pleasant looks weren't on our mind.

    LOL...fake owl? heh

put metal spikes on your roof where the birds like to hang out. that's what they do over here in NYC where pigeons are a problem.
