    Engine and trans data is one thing. But CDR's capture pre impact speeds and velocity. Also the most important thing the Delta V of the crash. ECU's can not capture that info.

    I think everyone is recording the crash data. I know I read about a accident involving a Saturn and a Ferrari. The Ferrari airbag module was sent to Ferrari for a download of the crash data.

    GM and Ford are the only ones that have released the crash data to the aftermarket.

    Chrysler will have some in 2005.

    Toyota should have crash data available at anytime.

    I want to thank the NYTs. They used pictures from our website for the story, plus they called the unit the 'airbag module' rather than 'black box.'
