Hi I'm thinking of repainting my black Countach What colour shoud I take??? I was thinking of silver metallic.....but if any of you have any cool coulers please let me know. I'll post more pix during the process. Paul
Heres a Burago Countach I did in silver, cut the rear wing off too. Sorry for the bad pic, did this one along time ago .... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Pretty much anything pearl by House of Kolor (www.houseofkolor.com)would look good. Lamborghinis lend themselves to slightly un-average paint jobs anyway, and House of Kolor would look good. You can find a couple of places that will put it in spray cans. Usually you have to buy it by the pint, but there are places that will sell you less and bottle it in a rattle can. I'll try and find the place I have gotten it from before. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey Scott85 Thanx for cool pic - it looks great, did you leave the intakes black?? I see you have black doorhandles, I'm also plannig of leave those black and cutt the wing - I dosent like it. I'll post pix when its done - hopefully next week Oh...did you remove the old colour and......eh....I dont know what you call it in english....but I can try.......did you use "primer" (a material to make the new paint solid and wont fell off) Hope you know what I'm babling about here.
Hey Andreas hmmmmm....that sound complicated, this will be my very first repaint project - maybe if I'm happy with the result on the first one then maybe I'm gonna do some x-perements on other cars in the future. But thanx for the advice. Paul
I was just kidding. Scott85 you removed the rear wing? Why?! If I had a Countach that would be the first thing I'd add. They look so much cooler with it.
I didn't strip the paint off to bare metal, but used a scotch brite pad to rough up the paint. After that, I primed, put the silver on & clearcoated it.
At the time, the only Countachs available were the Polistil or Burago versions, and I wanted to see what a Burago would look like without the wing . I used the wing on a HW Pantera.
I just bought the AutoArt LP5000S specifically because it HAS the rear wing! Mine is red but if I were to get another color, I do like a Countach that is White/White, with White wheels. I have a poster of a real Countach that looks like that and it is still awesome to look at.
Dare I say it: At work I have two black cars sitting on my desk. One is a 1957 TR and one a Diablo. With a wing (the Diablo).
Naah, just use that Coke to remove the paint. It'll strip it in no time... Actually you'll be ok as long as the new paint code doesn't crumble. As long as it doesn't you can spray layer upon layer. I screwd up an Enzo by changing the paint code too many times without stripping in between. Went from black to yellow to red. At the red level it crumbled. My mistake.
Yeah, thanx for the tip. I've just "primed" it - I'll post a pic when the primer is dry.....so I'm pretty dizzy right now. The colour I'm gonna use is blue Metallic(a)- with a clear finish......If I mess up, thats OK, you can only learn from your mistakes. I also got my yellow Enzo today 1/18 - I'm expecting 7 new Ferraris in the next couple of days - so when I get all, I'm gonna post a pic and list of MY collection 1/18z
Getting high on thinner, I love it! I always spray indoors and it shows... Practising on a Countach to get ready for the Enzo. You got your priorities straight.
I'm stone duuuuude.......LOL my wife are just shakeing her head and wondering "where the hell did I dig up this guy" No, I dont think I'll go for the Enzo, theres too much of details on it. A countach will have to do - cost me 5 buck$, so its not the end of the world if I mess it up. Do you have any pix on your Enzo project??
I know that look... Don't embarrass me please by asking for pictures of my failed Enzo project. It was painful enough to admit failure... The Enzo is hard btw, has a lot of nooks and crannies, kinda like the Countach, that's hard too. I did actually take before pictures. But now the after pictures look even worse.
LOL - if youre embarrassing for your pix, you can always send them to me privat though - I belive you got my mail address. I'm agree with you, the Enzo so one bad mother to repaint - but actually the Countach was went down pretty well I thnk, probles is how to put it back together. If you used primer - how many layers did you use? On this pic I've had only one layer, do you think I need more???
