Black Spur Drive

Wow, i's hard to believe a road like that is available to the public in Australia.

 

It is available........... at the posted speed limit. Kind of takes the fun out of it.

 

50kph from memory .... is that the road that goes from Kinglake ?

 

yeah, haven't been on it since I went for a drive with the late, great AHG.

 

Black Spur is 100km/h all the way through. It doesn't go to Kinglake tho.

 

both the kinglake road and black spur are 100kph....and good luck trying to keep the speed that high around the corners.

that's where we went a couple of weeks ago before i got us all lost on acheron way *shudder*

So I am assuming that there are alot of accidents along there?

 

One of those great runs that has the "high risk area" signs with pics of bikes on them.

The motorcyclists kill themselves all the time there.

We treat those signs like a challenge



It's twisty, hard on brakes, takes a lot of concentration to go fast and people think that:

a) they are good drivers

b) that the VL is a performance car

 

deaths too unfortunately

the next best road around there would be reefton spur on the otherside of marysville.

there is a get together and cruise of various cars heading there this saturday. PM me for details if interested.

that's the beauty of it for me.....you're going around corners at 60-80kph and feeling like you're going quite fast...and (in a car) at a speed that you can't do much damage if you screw up and all within the law.

 

Sad to hear about those deaths.
It looks like a lovely stretch of road to drive. Slow down and enjoy it.

 

Could your 355 blast through there nicely PP?
Would you feel safe driving through there at 100km/h in your 355?

 

I've traveled that road only twice. It looks like it'd be a good road to drive in a decent car!

 

Maybe PP will let you borrow his...............
