Yeah, they are still awesome. They used to be my favourite years ago when they put em up every week. Lol. But they stopped putting threads up like this for a long time and nowhere near as often. But glad to see these threads again. Being a mechanic, I find this all very interesting and really enjoy seeing the work being completed.
We originally did it with the car assembled along with a compression test hot. But once the motor is out you can roll it over by hand to get TDC. We drain the oil and leave the plug out while doing the test. So you can hear where it's coming from, intake, exhaust, passing the rings and out the pan, etc. I don't remember the numbers off hand but once they start to go above 15% you start paying attention.
