Looks like a hot day in the UK for today's practice sessions. Start is less than five minutes away. Twenty-nine drivers listed to be on the track. Carol
Looks like the "improved" Super Aguri of Montagny stopped on the track at turn 1 - session was suspended to remove the vehicle. Yamamoto (9 laps) is 7.349 secs ahead of Sato (6 laps). It's Friday so it's the Davidson/Kubica/Wurz Show. Trulli shows 3 laps but no actual lap time; Ralf has 1 lap and no time. Carol Guess no one else is watching practice this morning! caution flag at 6 minutes remaining for Mondini who stopped in S3 First Practice over - MS in 5th (with 3 laps) and Massa in 8th (with 4 laps) - way to go Michael!!! Webber and Rosberg not on track this session How cute - just read the the BMW guys put "Just Married" on Villeneuve's rear wing.
www.formula1.com Carol Second practice commences in about 20 minutes! sure glad we are working longer hours M-Th and off Friday until school starts again in August!
LOL Makes me wonder how far the unimproved Super Aguri would have made it? To the end of pitlane? And how about a regular Aguri? Just out of the transporter?
Too many 1:22's & 1:23's out there this morning. When you consider how much we've heard about the V-8's being better suited to the cornering at Silverstone, shouldn't we be seeing 1:18's and 1:19's? Everyone's sandbagging this morning...they're more interested in race pace than qualifying times.
Pls not! Ferrari needs one experienced driver and one new star. MS/DC is not doing anything for the future of the Scuderia.
I really wish we could see more action in these practices. I hate to see none of the big teams on track for more than a couple laps in an effort to save the engine and/or hide their performance. I know it's been said before, but the one engine two race rule has to go; it's really hurting the sport. More back on subject, Ferrari look like they are going to be really strong this weekend. I'm looking forward to another MS vs. FA battle on Sunday. Mark
Looks like Rakkoinen had a rough day - only 5 laps? Did he have a breakdown? I wsn't able to watch, and haven't seen the McLaren Press release yet........
Both Renaults and Ferraris are looking v. strong. Webber also looked good today. I dont recall seeing a flying lap of Kimi on TV at all ... curses. I think he is playing it safe to conserve the engine. I wonder if the track temps and air temp being higher than when teams last tested here may be hurting the tires. Dont know if the teams brought cooler temp tires. On the onboards, it seemed like everyone was lifting and applying brakes into the first couple corners. I thought the V8s would go nearly flat here based on the comments of some of the drivers. Perhaps if the track rubbers in then the drivers can be a little more brave. The Renaults looked real loose on one stretch of the circuit and JPM as well.
Seriolsly - could Mclaren literally make it any easier for Kimi to move to Ferrari??? His car has had more breakdowns than the participants of the Jerry Springer show...............
I think Kimi can be a great road tester for Mercedes - apparently foolproof, failproof parts have let go when he is driving. We should have a contest to guess what part will fail in this race. My prediction: On the 23rd lap, the onboard camera will come loose off its mounting (McLaren CEO Martin Whitmarsh will later attribute it to a poor batch of materials shipped from a contractor in Azerbejan.) The said camera will fall down and bounce off Kimi's helmet (thereby activating the internal switch that will allow Kimi Robot to actually pause between words when speaking) and then get sucked into the air intake where it mates successfully with the pistons. The driveshaft to powerplant interface will encounter an unexpected surge in momentary torque surpassing its design parameters resulting in a major malfunction of the Mercedes McLaren automobile. My version of Ronspeak for klutzy leadfoot
