I had a 2010 Cali. One other owner, 5k miles when I bought it from Maranello in the Uk. Main dealer servicing only plus new engine mounts. After four years I got rid of it at 10k miles. Why?

Driving along an access road to the motorway we heard a bang. Onto the motorway and people started driving up alongside us and shouting that we were spraying fuel. Sure enough I could see the fuel gauge going down before my eyes - half a tank in about 30 seconds. By the time we pulled over there was fuel pooling under the car and back along the road.

The closest garage I knew was an Indie I had used on my old 308. They found the fuel pipe had separated from the engine. It’s deep within the car and showed marks on the clamp which couldn’t be explained. So it was either a manufacturing or an authorise Ferrari service agent who caused this.

Ferraris stance! Frankly just not interested that two people could have burned to death. As far as they inform me they cannot see how it could have happened, so it’s nothing to do with them.

I’m really disappointed as a loyal customer of 20 years. What’s the point of going to authorised dealers and paying top dollar if, when something goes drastically goes wrong, the brand simply refuses to support you.

    That's scary.

BTW, when you said "Ferraris stance! Frankly just not interested that two people could have burned to death.
As far as they inform me they cannot see how it could have happened, so it’s nothing to do with them."

Did you mean the dealer? Ferrari SpA or your F dealer? Or both?

I had that problem on my crappy old Ford Escort, but it was a 15 year old hooptie @ the time,
and the problem was solved cheaply enough - by myself - with a new clamp. Can't say I blame you for being
ticked off @ F and your dealer, and getting rid of the car.

Pretty much both re not interested. This happened in May - 7 months ago. I raised the issue with HR Owen, chased them umpteen times and eventually complained to Ferrari Europe. Received a call that they were looking into it and yesterday got a call from head of servicing at HR Owen, who was completely unaware of the problem. His words were, once the car leaves the factory it’s nothing to do with the factory anymore, it’s a warranty issue. As the dealer cannot see how it can possibly have happened there’s nothing they are prepared to look at.

You would think Ferrari would be a little worried about people driving past a Cali on fire with two people sitting in it? Not exactly a great brand image. But whether it was a one off or a recallable fault they simply aren’t interested - which I find shocking.
