Mitch, Thank you for the very interesting response. What you said makes absolute sense to me and I have copied you post for my notes in the future. With Christmas, work, Family... my time in the garage is a bit limited, but I hope back on the road in a couple weeks. A
Emphasizing that, more important than a few degrees here or there, that the curves HAVE TO MATCH. Incredibly common problem.
The car is back on the road for the Delta dash this weekend. With the US timing set up (the advanced points timing only) and all questions about the state of things answered, the car is running very well (in my opinion). It would be interesting to swap vehicles with someone for a few miles. I still have the scenario where I get hesitation if I nail the accelerator to floor it at 3000 rpm in 3rd or higher gears. I'm pretty much convinced this situation is do to the accelerator pump delivering more gas than can be burned off. I Timed the accelerator pump shots when carbs were off (basically squirting fuel on the driveway) and the "fluttering" as it has been called, lasts just slightly less time than it takes to empty the bump piston reservoirs. The streams are actually quite impressive for a little engine, especially whey you think about them be multiplied by 6. I did not experiment further with advance curves, just did not have the time, still appreciate the advice.
