Getting itch for z06 and dealer website had one listed. About hour away from me. Called and spoke to woman who explained z was kept off site but would bring it for me to see, sit in, and start up. Couldn't drive it but could test drive a used base sr. Set appointment for next day. Extremely professional. Shockingly so even if Porsche dealership let alone Chevy. Texted me confirmation appointment. All set for next day. Luckily I decided check again right before leaving. Professional woman had day off so gave me to the 'team leader' on phone. Omg was he horrible. Music in background, having multiple conversations, talked like mafia don. Needless to say, I couldn't see the z or drive the sr. But he said I could still keep appointment. For what? I hung up on him more angry at myself for getting duped into thinking dealership could be professional than I was at them. Frustrating enough to make me lose interest in car. Rant over
I do love the z but issue for me is it would replace both rs5 and Elise. Audi is more practical daily and lotus gives ability drive hard on street without going jail. Plus I would have to add $$ to the trade. I was on fence and bad buying experience pushed me against it for now
So the factory that builds these Corvettes has about 250 workers designated as temporary part time. The plant manager has permission to hire them as 'full time' but he is blocking the idea to save money. The management in Detroit has fired long term Corvette executives again to save money while jacking up the list price again by 10k or more. Too much negatively surrounds that car; not to mention endless delays if you actually need replacement parts. Well rid of it. Get the Porsche! They aren't perfect either but noticeably better.
Wonder why "the professional woman" couldn't remember she had the next day off when she set the appointment with you? I've had this happen before with appliance dealers. Leaves a bad taste in one's mouth.
I have a good friend with a C8 Z06 and his engine blew with about 2,000 miles on the odometer. The entire engine was replaced in about three weeks. Fast forward a year or so and he get rear ended on the highway during rush hour. Five MONTHS later and the car is still sitting at the dealer unfinished. The wait on parts is absolutely ridiculous as is the [lack of] communication from the dealership. I don't know if there's still supply chain issues with other manufacturers, but this is beyond absurd.
Wow didn't know parts were an issue (beyond carbon fiber trim pieces). I'm satisfied where I am but z would make a nice 65 bday present to myself. Will see...
I have a SR. The dealerships are horrible. Ive tried several dealers(4) and there is always a weak link be it bad sales rep, bad tech, bad tech assistant that results in a bad experience. the biggest problem is lack of training and lack of professionalism for this type of car. btw, the c8 is great but GM needs to split off Corvette from lowly Chevy mindset.
And funny thing is my best dealership experience ever was for gtr at Nissan! Was a hole in wall store in sketchy neighborhood but were totally on the ball and professional.
Though it’s shocking to hear about the dealership treatment especially for flagship car clients, I believe it signalling the business model failing and unable to cope in its present form. Likely big changes are coming (again) to dealers. Not to hijack the thread, but as a “big three” high end client of another flagship model, I’ve noticed similar treatment. That being said, the C8 Z has definitely got me thinking. I need to take one for a rip
C8 Z06 is a great car sold by a bad marketing system and serviced by a horrible service experience. Most small to medium-sized dealerships don't sell enough Z06's to understand the car and client very well.
and probably wont spend the money to train a tech. lots of turnover in service dept as the good techs leave for better jobs.
Contacted another Chevy dealer that has 3 stores and z06s. Hopefully can see one this weekend. Told me no dealers allow test drives even including used base sr. Is that just the way it is? Look for a private used seller? Rent one? Is it me just getting old and cranky or is buying a car no fun anymore?
Went to see 3 of them and wow was I impressed. Didn't drive any but cold start up is insane like a 458 challenge car (to be fair was in a small concrete room w lots echo). Other surprise was interior quality and style. Really nice and I saw all 3 levels. Base seats were great Don't think I can resist this car much longer
i would like to order a 3lz gray with beige interior but i found a 2lz gray and red interior that is very close to what i want. one i would order would be around 140k and one in stock is discounted to a good deal at 130. have to sell my lotus and audi though so i might not be ready right now which might still be ok since 26 i would order will have a redesign. fun decisions to make though
Bought today for pick up Saturday. Wish me luck! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You're gonna love it! Mine's hypersonic gray with red calipers, too. Natural interior, though. I also painted the zo6 badges bright red to match the calipers.
Really is everything I could want in a car. Mid engine, rwd, dct, n/a, high rpm, targa top, regular doors. Don't think anything else meets those requirements at any price.
Just drove it home 150 miles from dealer and best highway sports car I've ever driven. (Other than mpg). Best cold start up sound. I am over moon with this and still probably month until redline and track mode! I'm in love Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
the more time i spend with this car, the more i think its what ferrari should be making now. this is what 488/tributo should have been. just make some easy style changes like new rear bumper with a smaller trunk to decrease big butt look and smooth out all of the sharp body creases.
I don't disagree with you, but the regulations in the EU won't allow for this. As a car that really doesn't rely on the European market, Chevy can do things with displacement and engine layout that Ferrari simply cannot (or won't because of the regulatory climate). Not making excuses, just providing context.
