Hey ya'll, there's a lot of fun events coming up......peep this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=231597 The Campbell Run is planned for April 2-5th, so we need to get this locked down within the next few weeks!! We need to know exactly how many people are going, and get deposits so proper accomodations/cabin, transport, and airfare are arranged. The purpose of this trip, is to DRIVE, DRIVE, DRIVE!!! The roads in North Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee are AMAZING!!!! So, each day will be filled with as much driving as possible!! Here's the deal.........The cars will be picked up from Ft. Lauderdale on Wednesday (April 1st). The flight will leave Ft. Lauderdale on Thursday morning (April 2nd), and a rental car will get us from the Atlanta airport to Ferrari of Atlanta (FOA), which is where the cars will be delivered. From FOA, we will drive for the rest of the day, and eventually wind up at the cabin where we'll be staying. On Friday and Saturday, it will be a sun-up to sun-down driving marathon where you will be amazed by the beauty of the roads, scenery, and driving excitement! On Sunday, we will drive back down to FOA, where the cars will be picked back up. Then, we'll take the rental car back to the airport and fly home Sunday afternoon/evening. The cars will be delivered back in Ft. Lauderdale on Monday. Exact pricing depends upon how many people participate, but you can expect roughly: Shipping = $1,200 round trip, enclosed, per car. Airfare = $250 round trip, per person. (currently as low as $175 RT!) Rental Car = $120 divided by however many people come. Accomodations = $300 per person. Food/??? = Whatever you want to spend on cheap BBQ!! Of course, if there are people who want to drive up themselves, or arrange their own transport, or arrange their own accomodations, and just want to meet us up there to drive, that's fine...!! Please send me a PM or email me ASAP if you would like to get in on the Campbell Run.........
I have not revealed the dates to Lisa yet, but I'm in! I will be trailering my own car up. I have looked into several places to stay. Some great opportunities in Blairsville as usual, but also some good ones in North Carolina that are about the same amount of driving time from Florida. While Blairsville is about 2 hours from Atlanta, the NC places would be probably about 4 hours away. I'm good booking in Blairsville and doing similar routes as the last trip. Just hoping for NO RAIN!!! BT Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I might be in as well, I am looking for a another toy. I do not think anyone is bringing their ferrari this trip. We had a GREAT time last time and I would highly suggest going if you have the ability Fred ??? / Bill ???
I will already be near Blairsville at my cabin that very week, it is Spring Break. I unfortunately won't be bringing my car since I have to drive the family up. If somebody doesn't mind I would like to tag along on a drive, at least for a couple of hours. It will get me out of minivan mundane.
If that's the case, then what's the point in going? I didn't think the original post was intended to imply that we ship the family cars up there to drive in the mountains. Hell....may as well just fly up and rent a car and drive it rather then paying $1200 to ship a daily driver...
We did a little mountain drive to Wolf Mountain Winery last Saturday. Later in the thread, there are some pictures of the roads and scenery. Great turnout and loads of fun. look forward to seeing everyone. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=229639
Lots of other cars are great on the mountain roads. Fred will be driving the Lotus I think. I will be driving the Ginetta. A daily driver would be a last choice for this type of trip. If the forecast if for all rain I will be driving the Scion, but otherwise the roadster is the ticket. A motorcycle can be fun too, but the weather will probably be a little cold for that sort of transport. If you want to be the copilot duane, you are welcome to the passenger seat! I'll bring an extra helmet, but don't worry, my dad says I'm an excellent driver, an excellent driver... BT
Was it: A) leisurely driving B) brisk driving C) hold on to your heart driving I prefer between a B / B+. Like Thai 3 star.... The occasional turn at speed "C" is not fun for me! BT
The average temps for when this is planned are about 10 degrees cooler than the average from the October trip. Expect 37 for an average low, and 65 for an average high temp. Does anyone know if that is enough heat for summer tires? If the projected temps are at or below average I will probably use my all season tires as the Azenis are said to be not too friendly in the cold! BT
Tom, you're right, this trip isn't really intended for a daily-driver!! We had a blast last time with the Ferrari's (and BT's Ginetta)!! I think Robert only really meant BT or I when he indicated 'anyone'. Last time, BT took his Ginetta and it handled the tight & twisty roads better than our Ferrari's because it was lighter, more nimble and smaller. So, I was leaning towards bringing my Lotus instead of the CS, since I would like to try how that car does, and I can be more relaxed with it than the crazy-anal person I am with my CS! But, if you want to fly up and rent a car..............."nothing handles like a rental car!" Robert, I hope you go!! You better!!! Duane, why not leave your car at either my house or BT's house before you leave, then it can be transported up and back for you while you're there?? Will, looking foward to seeing you again!!
I will bring a razor knife in case you have to do any bodywork to your car to account for tires...........
Bill, as to A, B or C you would have to ask Miss Maggie. I always think I'm going slow. We had a great day on some wonderful roads. Fred, a Bar b que requinion is in our future. This will be fun.
No worries, the all season tires are narrower (by about 1/4"), so tire rub should not be an issue. But bring the razor, you never know what else might need fixin'. I think in 2 weeks we will select the accomodations, so speak up if you plan on attending. Otherwise, it's sofa city! BT
Ya know that aint a half bad idea. $1200 is a little steep for one day of fun. Let's see how February commission checks are and I'll figure out if I can do it.
I might be interested in coming along if you guys don't mind some locals crashing your party. Also, if you guys need any help getting from the airport to FOA, just let me know. I may have some cars available to rent that weekend if you don't want to ship yours up. I will keep tabs on this thread but anyone can contact me at [email protected]. Looks like fun. -Ed
Hi Ed, We would welcome you to come with us!!! Look forward to meeting you!! Thanks for the offer on the Airport to FOA ride! We may take you up on this, as the rental car just sits at FOA. So, if you're willing to pick us up at the airport on Thursday morning, and returning us back to the airport on Sunday afternoon, that would be great! We'll see how many people there are that commit to going. I will check out your website to see what you have available as a rental, too!!
Hey everyone..........the cutoff to confirm if you're going or not will be TUESDAY, MARCH 17TH........... That way, we have 2 week notice for flights, transport logistics, and accomodations.
Some good accommodations available in both Blairsville and Blue Ridge Jawja.... Ready to book the lodging. Hopefully no snow! The current 10 day forecast shows highs from 55-72 and lows from 33-50. A little chilly, but I think we will see some warming in the next 3 weeks. BT
I will most likely not be going I have not been successful with getting another toy car and not the right time financially ;( have fun and be safe
Like having kids, financially it is NEVER the right time for a road trip! But hey, life would be boring if all we did was the RIGHT thing! BT
Borrow one of Fred's cars. He likes to let other people drive his stuff. Weather this weekend is wonderful. Me thinks there will be lots of Ferrari cars in the mountains...........
Yeah, Fred doesn't really care about his stuff too much. Just put it through the car wash at the gas station when you are done, and fill it up, you will be good to go! I don't think he is using the Ultima, that would be a cool one to slide around the corners! BT
LOL..... I think Robert isn't going so he can sneak into my garage and take the Ultima for the weekend while I am gone......... BTW, Robert, you really need to go!!!!!!!!
