I' ve been searching all over the forum but i found nothing about it. A ferrari mechanic told me to change the Camshaft Driven Gear set of 4 ( nrs 11 e 12 )because of their weakness. My ones are made of "bachelite" or something fiberglass material like this. There was an official call from Ferrari in 80s due to change this component with one made of steel. Anyone knows something about this ?? Someone broke this components ?? thanks for help ............... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Flavio, the side flanges ("fences") break. Use dye penetrant to look for cracks. If you need a set I have a few left. Send me a pm or email me at derekrwhite at yahoo
Later ones were made of aluminum, I think. Derek was kind enough to source a fabricator for lightweight metal versions. If you want lightweight metal with the ability to adjust them for setting can timing without opening up the cam covers in the future, Nick's Forza Ferrari sells them. Do a Google search.
Superformance in the UK also offers aluminum cam drive pulleys. I installed a set on my '81 during the last belt change, work fine.
Yes Eric ......... Eurospares too. What i wonder is: who know the difference between the material they are made of ?? who know the resistence ? the prices are different ....... from 550€ alu ( Superformance ) , to 870€ steel ( Eurospares ) ..to 1.200 € ( Nick's Forza ) . I understand Nick's pulleys ( adjustable ) but the remain ? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The pulleys I made for Nick are different in the type of belt used. the Superformance and Eurospares pulley still use the same belt as factory supplied. When I re-designed the pulley I went with the newer curvelinear belt, the tooth profile looks like half a circle vs the small rectangle of the OEM one. There are threads here about all the gritty details about ~10yrs ago. That said I have to check stock on what is available, to date I've had 50 sets made over the yrs and I think I might be out of them now.
