    I called out a post on the UK thread earlier tonight because of the offensive nature of the language used! The "poster" denies all knowledge of the "language" used! I'm wondering whether to call the "poster" a liar and expose him as a coward who's blaming someone else, or is it possible someone's altered his original post????

    I didn't think it was possible to edit a post after a certain time, and even if it was, why would someone do so?

    Lots of us on here try to "share the joy" of owning a dream car, but to demean the good works of generous people who do share is unforgivable!

    Mods can edit a post...

    I had a typo with a wrong date for an upcoming event in a post of mine once, and asked a mod to change it.

    Pretty sure a computer savy person could do it as well if so inclined. I mean hell, people hack into microsoft!

    I checked out the thread you reference... my guess is it was altered.

    But please don't accuse anyone... I once had a job where the running gag was to send outrageous e-mails from a someone's e-mail, if they left it logged on. My point is it could be anyone... not necessarily someone here.

    I appreciate funny the same as the next guy, but in this situation I'm not sure how to respond. The "poster" SteveF has been a pretty contentious member here, but I find the language in "his" post particularly offensive! He's denied all knowledge, but after a little thought, I can't believe a Mod would alter it knowing it would cause an issue!

    Maybe the person responsible would care to meet my autistic cousin and call him a retard to his face!

    There appears to be 2 possible explanations, 1) Steve's a bare faced liar who should be banned for being insulting and not being "man enough" to admit it and apologise or 2) someone has manipulated his post!


    Either way there's something wrong!!!!

    I agree with you. I don't know steveF, and can't recall any of his posts per se... I was just trying (in my first post) to show that the post may have been modified by other than a moderator.

    The second post was meant to provide an example of mods having the power to modify posts. It was not meant to imply that I thought a mod had altered steve's post (I really don't think a mod would do that... I hope not...), or that I thought the steveF post in question was funny... I certainly don't!

    My guess is that it was altered by someone. Bobda says he saw "f-cars", and he was the first to post after the offending one.

    I'm afraid I don't understand your response. Are you saying that it's possible for anyone other than a Mod or the original author to change a post???

    I do know SteveF and IMHO there is no way He would write the offending word, I am surprised that no one has mentioned the possibility of a Mod altering the text as a mark of disrespect to the site to which the alleged original text refered to, those of Us who use both sites are well aware of the animosity shown to the other site. For sure I do not know what was either written or altered(allegedly) but just thought I would mention this possibility.

    Hey, SteveF is originally Scottish and its part of our language to swear for **** sake!

    Not a day goes by where i dont mention the word **** at least three times in the same sentence....

    ;)

    sorry but the post was not a swear word somebody changed the word FCARS to retard about 5 days after it was posted and a few people have taken offence about this as they have family and friends with this illness but ROB LAY is on the case looking into this so the coward /culprit should be found out apparently it could only of been done by

    steve f ------ within an hour of posting the post it was done 5 days later

    i used to be a member of a forum that was owned by some so called friends..
    they edited all my posts and deliberatly went out of thier way to embarass me..
    needless to say i left the forum, and im not friends with them anymore

    stevef is absolutely right...you can only edit your own post within an hour which puts him out of the equation... either a hacker or a mod...

    I blatently voilated the TOS (without knowledge, I am wiser now) and had my post re-edited by MarkPDX.... it was damn funny and I think it is great that these guys are able to fix mistakes so fast.
