I'll take a stab at this. It would appear that this is a practice shot from the 1956 1000km of the Nurburgring, probably at the Karussell, driven by Eugenio Castellotti (partnered by Fangio) in a Ferrari 860 Monza 4-cylinder, #0602M, finished 2nd overall. Photo by Jesse Alexander (it's in his book "Looking Back")

    Nice picture!!

There were 3 860 Monzas (0602, 0604 and 0606) , market for them (when they even come up) would currently be about $2 to 2.2 million.

The 3 857 Monzas are approximately $1.1 to 1.35 million.

Don't ask me why 12 more ccs of displacement get you an extra million . . .

Could it be that the 857 is more closely associated with the (customer) 750 Monza, while the 860 is a factory car, and very similar to the V12 290MM which was run alongside it in 1956?

    Just a SWAG........

I agree, Paul - I guess the only 857 w/ any SF pedigree would be 0570 - I got to see 0570 when Dusek brought it to Reading PA concorso a few years ago. Sergio Scaglietti was also there as the guest of the show to see some of his babies.

I also see that barchetta lists 0606 as a 290MM and not an 860M?
