I am worried because these cars are made of plastic and I live in a hot climate. How bad do they melt ? Guess I couldn't live in a cold climate either....because they would crack. Should I sell it and buy an Aztec ?
They now have a special coating for them that costs only about $60,000 per gallon if you are that worried... As for the cold weather, no cause for alarm. They come pre-cracked from the factory, no one will know. The Aztec, BTW, is best left for homeless people who need that little camping tent in the back.
Man you guys love to bag on vettes I btw have had a daily driver vette for the past 13 years, And as the model years have changed I have yet to have one melt in the sun but its not plastic its fiberglass reienforced composite. only plastic is in the interior and the bumpers.
Don't worry the front and rear clip will warp and discolor followed by peeling in a few years regardless.
This is called "patina". People like Napolis would get very angry if you tried to over-restore such a historic vehicle.
No need to wax. It just comes off when you drive through the car wash. Most so-called waxes are really just plastic. and since the body is plastic anyway, what's the point.
As the resident expert on plastic cars, yes, you DO need to be careful of leaving a Vette in the sun. Unlike my Lotus and the Fiero I used to have, the Vette plastic is very heat sensitive. Most owners avoid this problem by pasting as many decals and stripes as they can all over the body. Ken
That's right. You should bring that El Camino in your profile picture down to the hooters next wednesday for our little chevy fest.
