Sorry for the delay in updating. Here is a small part of the article written for the Dutch Alfa Romeo club magazine in 1993 on the Alfa 1900's raced in the Pan Americana translated to English. I only include one photo of the grey # 265 car supplied by Carter Hendricks for reference only. I have not been able to get more information from him for a few months so this might be all I can show.

From the Dutch Alfa Club 1993 magazine article:

"The 1900's that raced in what was to the the last Carrera Panamericana started with a private effort launched by Dott Camisa, a Milanese who dreamed of Alfa in Mexico. He got
Alfa to prepare a number of 1900TI cars which were then sold to drivers from Mexico, Argentina and Guatemala. Along the way, Alfa decided to join the party and made more identically prepared cars for a group of factory drivers and friends. They were joined by an independent entry of a 1900TI already owned by Guido Mancini.

Cerezo got his car through Juroslav Juhan. It was a late deal and shipped separate from the other cars that went to Veracruz. Cerezo's car went on a ship to NYC, and Mrs Juhan drove the car across the country.

The Cerezo car was dark grey. The background color for the race numbers was painted across the entire door, different from the rectangle on the Alfa team cars. There are the two lines below the Bull logo. The race legend extended back towards the trunk."

Also the photo of the #265 car printed on the Dutch Alfa club magazine cover. This #265 car is still around and is under restoration.

Any more photos and info would be most welcome. As we have little published information and or photos on this race the internet has to be the main resource.

Sorry for drifting away from the Alfas, but anyone has seen an original picture of this Osca driven by Manfredo Lippmann in the V Panamericana?

There's quite a lot of pictures of a restored car in the web, but there's so many obvious mistakes in it that I can't rely on them.

Hi F1tommy you are right! I continued to search, and I found this site where I found a RAL colour chart with a "Tavola Riassuntiva Comparativa Colori R.A.L." ( Tavola Riassuntiva Comparativa Colori RAL-HTML-RGB ), mixing colours with italian names, and when I looked for the above Alfa 19000 TI colour, I just found that RAL 7011, a darker grey that this Alfa's, just look what I found: GRIGIO FERRO! I think this is a BINGO! I whent this morning to a car paint shop where I looked in their "chips" catalogue to the real colour and... just do the same if you can! this must be the #265 colour! and, by the same way, I looked for some "browns", and found that there is a RAL 8008 called MARRONE OLIVA that mathes the £251 photos plus the apostolos info plus that period list of chassis/colours! and there is also RAL 8007 MARRONE CAPRIOLO that just looks like the colour you used on your model...judge for your self!

Some 1/43rd models from our Greek contributor. I also found this photo showing one of the Pan Am Lincoln/Allard transport trucks. This photo was taken after the race in Palm Springs.

The Kurtis Kraft models are in 1/43rd and are again by Escuderia24 and can be bought in kit or built form.

Quick test fit of the Scale Designs Pan Am/Mille Miglia 1/24th Alfa 1900 decal for the #265 car(Quattroroute 1/24th diecast model base). It is missing the writing under the Bull logo as we could not read it before(new photo was found after several years researching). The car should be darker grey and have panted bumbers. Also below is the #251 class winning 1900 TI from the same decal set. It should be darker brown I think, but who really knows for sure?

Yes you are correct, sorry about that. I am suprised it took so long for someone to point out the error. I guess because it is over here in collectibles/models.

A few more Pan Am car photos. Does anybody know if there are any color photos of the Ferrari Mexico's from 1952?? I know Phill Hill and several other photographers were using Kodachrome at the 1952 Pan Am, but I have never seen a 1952 Ferrari 340 Mexico STILL shot in color.
