    Hi
I'm new to Ferraris and in my search for the perfect 308 model I have a couple of questions:

Did any 308 GTB or GTS made for the European market come with catalyst(s)?

Did only catalyzed cars get the horse shoe shaped louvers on the engine cover?

    Thanks!

The horseshoe louvers I believe had to do with US or Euro cars? Someone jump in here and help me. I have a US Car (83 QV) and I have the horseshoe on the engine cover lid...

I'm sure there is some individual market variation, but in general euro 308s did not have catalyst and do not have the "horse shoe" louvers.

That is what I thought Z, and I am not sure about the Carbed cars at least here in the USA but I thought they didn't have the horseshoe louvers, but someone with one should kick in and let us know.

In Switzerland catalysts became mandatory in 1986. So there are only 328 with cats...

    Hi!

North American cars required catalytic exhaust beginning 1978.

Most of the Euro market was NON CAT until 1980....You'll see single distrubuter carbed cars that way...

    Good luck in your search....

Wow! I didn't expect this many answers in a day. Thanks for your help guys.

As I live in Norway I will be buying a Euro car, I'm glad very few of them, if any, have cats. I would however like to have the horse shoe shaped engine cover as it improves cooling in the area where I plan to put a couple of turbos.

Maybe I'll get hold of a USDM cover...

You'd have to cut a larger opening in the engine to make that happen, no?

IIRC - Regardless of market (NA, Euro, or Asia), 1978 and beyond had the extra louvers on the engine cover. Can anybody confirm??

My 89 328 has no cats on it.....1990 was "cat year" in the UK I think so there are not 328s with cats here. :D

Not correct. My '84 euro does not have the extra louvers. It was a French car originally if that matters.

I have a '79 non-US carb Euro GTS with no cats. I do not have the Horseshoe louvers.
