Actually a time set aside for the general public to view the cars at a reasonable price. Doesn't have to be too long just an opportunity to see cars you might not see at local or even regional events.

I think the current price is reasonable for what you get and it is shoulder to shoulder crowded, so I don't think there is an opportunity for any less expensive tickets and any less crowds.

This is an upscale for profit enterprise. It owes no one anything. If it is packing people in to the capacity of the event that is the best evidence it is not overpriced.

What socialistic mind set says they need to cater to anyone else? We dont have to like it, we just need to accept the laws of economics. I really want a 288 GTO for $85,000 like in 1985 but I am pretty sure no one is going to care too much about how I am so deserving.

No. I just saying my old car was originally burgundy, and I was wondering if the car in the show was the same car. It is not.

Thanks Dale. Now go out and convince a 288 owner. I'll let you drive it.

    Good choice on a 288. I like it better than a F40.

Phill Hill said it was what the 328 should have been. He was right. They just needed to make 7000 more.

For all the people who thought the prices were too high.
Go to the cavalino website and look at the agenda sheet , EVERY event was sold old.
    Great time.

Kind of reminds me of the hamburg story -

A woman walks into Schultz’s Butcher Shop and asks how much is a pound of hamburg meat. “Three dollars a pound” says Schultz.

The woman shrieks, “Three dollars a pound! Numeyer’s shop has it for two dollars a pound”.

“So why bother me?” asks Schultz, “Go buy it from Numeyer”.

“I would” said the woman, “but Numeyer is out of hamburg”.

“Well” said Schultz, “if I was out of hamburg, I’d let you have it for a dollar a pound!” :D

Just a little background of how I learned the hamburg story.

About 50 years ago I wanted to buy a Datsun 260Z. A dealer I went to offered me a real good price, but he didn't have the car in stock. Well at my age at the time I couldn't be waiting for him to get the car in stock.

So I went to another dealer who had the car on the floor and offered me the car a much higher price. I told him another dealer was much lower.

Hence he told me the hamburg story!

P.S. The price was a little out of my reach and unfortunately I never got it. Later I did buy a new Nissan 300ZX though.

I was not at the awards dinner. Had a ticket but blew it off. I know several who were there and said it was lowest turn out they had ever seen.

They may have sold it out but bar was not very high.

Musicians who want to pump up their career have agents book them at small venues so they can advertise they sell out every auditorium.
    Very old trick.

General admission tickets weren’t sold out. I know a few people who bought them the day of the Concours.

I didn't go Saturday night, but went to the Friday night Rally Dinner. It was packed, hard to grab a seat, many ended up eating at the outside cocktail tables.

My lack of enjoyment was my own fault, I just didn't know anyone and pretty introverted. Grabbed an open seat met some political dignitaries and Landy from GTO Engineering (they were sponsors at one time). The funniest was a young girl sat next to me, we had a good conversation, but I thought she was with Landy and at some point lost my focus on her. She stormed off not finishing her meal. Turned out she had sat there by herself not knowing Landy or anyone else either. I then thought about being warned here about all the escorts that would be out and about, turns out I saw her the next day as one of the VIP hostesses. :D

Bob Smith and I and about 20 others, most with tickets had a little private party at the Airport Hilton.

But seriously several who have been going for years were very surprised at how few were at the award dinner. That room is typically pretty full.

    Next year will be interesting.

Don’t assume “prices too high” = can’t afford it. Many of us multiyear, long time attendees just don’t see the value, especially if a lot of travel is involved. There’s a difference. Some people like it the way it is, others liked it for what it was.
