Finally.. cavallino will celebrate ferraris that raced at the 24 hours of Le Mans and the anniversaries of these models 70 years of the 250 MM, 340MM, 625 TF and the 735 Sport and 60 years of the 330 MM, 330 LMB and the 250 P.
where are all the Cavallino haters? this is sounding like a kick ass special event. you have to admit that Luigi has more connections than John ever had even if the tortellini sucks.
I am far from a Cavallino hater, having attended and participated several years, but I am a recent Cavallino skeptic. As far as, "you have to admit that Luigi has more connections than John ever had", I'm not knowledgeable enough about the two to admit that...... yet.
Lol, jumping the gun a bit aren’t we? Let’s wait to see how it stacks up to year’s past. I don’t know if/ how long you’ve been going but in it’s prime the Cavallino Classic was THE event. The cars they’ve had on the lawn thru the years has been mind blowing. The track event alone was a world class who’s who of collectors and cars. Hopefully Luigi will do just as well if not better. He certainly has some big suede loafers to fill!
Likely the LM Berlinetta as Ferrari entered 4 of them at Le Mans. With that said 0808 is rather more special with that Fantuzzi body!
That's The Spirit ! I have been 3 times with showing, not judging my Daytona last 2 times; April '21 (Last Track Day Palm Beach IRC !) & Jan '22. First trip was 2014, went with my then 18 y/o son. First car I stumbled upon was a drop-dead gorgeous Argento/Bordeaux 250 Lusso parked amongst the Grecian Column lined walk way early on Thursday....I was hooked ! This year considering having my 550B judged. I look at this event as a great Winter break as live NY...cannot beat the setting...The Breakers!...the cars and I have gotten to know quite a few car guys over the last years who have become friends. I enjoy seeing them during this time. My point is forget about all the commercial mumbo-jumbo & just take in the scene. I'm sure Luigi hears the grumblings & is working diligently to improve each years edition. Hope to see everyone there! Jack (Southampton, NY)
To be fair last year was one of the worst ever but IMO they get a pass because it was their first shot. FWIW I've gone to every one since 1996 so I have a good perspective based on year's past. I'm hopeful this year's will be on point.
As different car groups are featured each year , in your years of experience what did you find was the best theme year there?
I think that was the common old school view, but out of people that actually went and participated in most of it I heard only a few complaints like the pricing, setup time, and tortellini. IMHO Cavallino is in a no win situation when it comes to the old school crowd no matter how good of a job they do. It will be different and that's what sucks for people. We'll never know, but the only fair comparison would have been a 2021 and 2022 John Barnes Cavallino in comparison to what Canossa produces. There were old school complaints the last decade about Cavallino, even before Canossa took over.
