Just saw the rates for the 2016 Cavallino Classic and they litteraly doubled the fee to 200$ this year??? I understand it may be the 25th anniversary but GeeZzzz....even 125-150 would have irked me. At 200$ I'm numb... But I'm also an idiot because I will go anyway...
Then there would be those of us that judge. We pay for travel, hotel, rental car, meals and all we get is a free lunch. And we come from as far as Europe, UK and Hawaii.
I guess it is "THE" show so they feel they can squeeze out as much as they can. Perhaps it's time someone else organizes an all-Ferrari concours in South Florida to give them some competition? I don't mind that they are making money but 200$ is ridiculous for an entrance fee.
Last year, at $100 per, the place was so busy they literally had a 5 year old augmenting the credit card swiping crew for collecting the entrance fee. So $200 is not surprising. I suggest going early for the most enjoyment. Or better yet, stay at the Breakers if there's still room. BTW, someone did try a competing event (more exotic car) for the same weekend in the past (thread or two already).
They can charge whatever the market will support, but at $400 for my wife and me it just isn't worth it. You'd think they would offer their subscribers or advance purchasers some kind of discount.
I've already committed to going and have already organized the trip with 8 of my friends so I will be there but it will definitely be my last Cavallino Classic for a while, they are just getting too greedy. And I call BS on them wanting to "limit" the attendance....they are just wanting to make more cash. If money wasn't the issue, why not properly reward the judges for their work like Brian mentionned?
I am planning to be in palm beach from tuesday to saturday. I would have liked to attend the Jet Reception on wed. then track on thursday-friday and concours on saturday. However, I've been told the Jet reception is just an ego-stroke and all the same cars so now I'm questionning if it's worth it. For 250$ per head we could afford a great time at a restaurant. What should we do? As for the track, is it worth going both days (thu-fri)? If so, what is the best time to go and is it an all day thing?
As long as they can pack the place, the price will not go down. When/if attendance has a significant fall off, look for the fee to be adjusted. Regards, Jerry
That's ridiculous I'd rather they just say hey it's a private club for the people who are showing their cars and be done with it, the best show in Florida anyway is in Naples in February just wait for that.
What shill post was there? I don't even remember....I guess Cavallino is a sponsor and we ruffled a few feathers. what was the infraction?
As far as I know Cavallino is not a sponsor. Barton was shilling a paid event he works for, which is a no-no. If you work for a paid event and you're not a sponsor it is against Ferrarichat TOS. If you're a regular member speaking about an event you know and attend--paid or not--it is acceptable here.
A $200 entrance fee is also a good way to ensure working class enthusiasts can no longer attend. It will now be a show for a select few relatively well off individuals with higher exclusivity. Maybe that's what they wanted or maybe it's a by-product of some other need to raise the fee. Either way, I should have gone several years ago when it was only $50. I'm sure it's a fun event with an amazing assortment of Ferraris. Scott
I will show up at 4 when the cars start to leave and watch for free.lol 200$ dollars a person and 50$ for parking is not for me,I thought 100 dollars last year was much but 200$ that's crazy.
It's a high society affair, no doubt about it. Always has been, but just more so now. Also, last year was the first time that I couldn't park on the premises. And I was driving a Ferrari.
a couple of weeks ago I booked two nights at the breakers for the event. Price was considerably less through the cavallino website/link than by just going to the breakers site FWIW. But now @200/per entry, I'm seriously rethinking the whole event...bummer
