07 F430 with about 26k miles, new owner Had the CEL flash temporarily--slight panic attack, it went like this: downshifted from 3rd to 2nd at around 25mph right turn onto the street CEL starts flashing car sounded a little off CEL disappeared 4 seconds later everything sounded fine Car drove completely normal the rest of 4 mile drive home. Smooth, temps all normal Seemed and sounded fine under a brief acceleration The gas is pretty low (2 bars) Was thinking that could be it? I am going to get an OBD scanner to check it out, but it freaked me out a little bit
would say relatively cornered pretty sharply; any suggestions as to what to do next time I start it up? probably a year or two (at most) old?
Should be fine to drive and get more gas. Never a bad idea to invest in a decent scanner to read the freeze frame if there is data stored.
Yeah. First go running the gas this low. Scanner on the way, hopefully should provide some insight, thanks!!
Strange. I thought the F430 Motronic system would be smart enough to ignore low fuel induced problems. Even the F355 5.2 has an input from the fuel quantity system to the Motronic ECU to stop it generating an engine-related fault/CEL. It assumes fuel quantity is the issue. Perhaps the fuel has to be low for a certain period of time before it ignores low fuel-related engine problems. Experts?
One or both banks will shut down depending on fuel levels in relation to pump pickup heights. If one bank continued to turn the engine for a while, I assume the alternator would continue to operate, so would you necessarily get a CEL if only one bank shut down with fuel level low?
Flashing engine light means misfire..nothing else. Investigate before you find yourself replacing melted down cats .
Flashing engine light is a sign of a severe misfire. Sounds like it may be time for new coils and plugs.
Sorry to hijack an old thread but my 360 just did this - CEL, misfire codes, then started flashing and displayed "Slow Down." Spark plugs/coils replaced, catalytic converters just replaced. Car has ~150 miles since. Battery charged and is fine too. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
This ^^ Exactly. Check plugs/coils and gap on the plugs. Scanning for codes and seeing specific cylinder misfires would lead you down the right path here. Thats assuming you have stored codes in the one of the ECUs and generally with a flashing CEL you will have something stored in memory for you to pull using an OBD2 basic scan-tool.
