I was just thinking how about a 1919A4 semi auto from TNW? Like new with the A6 kit, M2 tripod and 400 or 800 round's of linked 30-06. Truely under 1000 rounds threw it. Then I can finish my MP5.

i would LOVE a semi MG42 or MG34. i *think* they are about $3500.00 . i was VERY happy to see that TNW has semi auto recievers. i will call hem monday and see whats involved with that.

per BATF, i *think* i will have to apply for a "manufacturers" license to build one of these things in semi auto myself. going to look into that too. i dont want to give "the man" any reason to mess with me !

You know what's really funny? that thing is absolutely illegal here for civilian use, only the military has access to it
Oh, and most romanians have no clue we're exporting such large amounts of guns

 

its great to have you here!!! i almost went to Bucharest to fix a broken aircraft we had there at the airport. the guys that did go tried to get me some spare mags for my 7.62x54mm Dragunov ( Romanian) . they said that the civilians had no access to such things and they were not about to ask any military guys for " spare gun magazines". the mags are not illegal here, nor are they illegal to import, they are just hard as hell to find as they are so few Dragunovs here in the states. i would have liked to have met up with you had i gone to fix the aircraft... they were there for 2 months, but had a lot of problems with local folks .....

 

Well, i'm you ever come back to this part of the world again, i'll buy you a beer, or something

I'll ask around, maybe there's a legal way to get some of that ammo.

I fire 3 rounds rapidly before my front foot is lifted off the ground and I stop For all of 1 frame I actually have all 3 brass in the air.

Hit a 2'x4' steel target at 100yds every time btw, these were not un-aimed shots.

RECOIL is equivilent to a 12-gauge shotgun. There is more 'thrust' though (ie you are moved back furthur. I'd say ~1" per round prone.) The brake eats over 70% of recoil, and the moving barrel eats even more. down to 12gauge levels is not bad AT ALL for a cartridge delivering over fourteen THOUSAND lb/ft of energy! (more than 10x the energy in an M16 round.) Withought a brake it would likely break your collarbone.

 

Of course compare this to my new CTR-02. This thing moves only 4MOA per shot! I can see my hits in the ACOG scope quite easily. That is how little it moves.

Same reasons as collecting and appreciating Ferrari's. Take the car to a track, take the gun to a range. Then there is collecting or hot rodding aspect of guns just like cars. Some people collect radios. To each his own.

As for criminal use of so called "assault rifles", that's a very rare occurance with most of that myth being fueled by two specific and well publicized events. Most criminals prefer a semiautomatic handgun like your 9mm Glock.

 

i dunno, i collect "old war" guns and have wanted one of those since forever. the German Mp38/Mp44 is also very cool and very VERY expensive now.

Just went shooting this weekend and shot a MP40. Less recoil then a .22. But this weekend I will get to put some rounds threw a MINIGUN! Pic's/vid to follow.

Speaking of military calibers, I've got an AMMO CAN question. I've been looking around for some ammo cans, and I always see the 30 caliber and 50 caliber cans listed for sale. But the MAIN size of current military ammo is the 5.56mm round as is used in M16s. That's the standard NATO round size in current use. I've got a few of those cans that I bought at a surplus store a few years ago. But I only see 30 and 50 caliber sizes listed for sale on various internet surplus sites. I even called one of the semi-local surplus businesses and they quickly told me that they had 30 and 50 caliber cans for sale. When I asked them about 5.56mm,.....I got a lot of silence.
What's up with that? Looks like there would be 10 times as many 5.56 ammo cans out there than other sizes.

 

Because its tons of fun. Like any other hobby, its fun. You look at that and see death, that's your view of it. Most of us "gun nuts" look at that and see a really cheap way to have a lot of fun.

How many people here have a Ferrari or other sports car that they "need"? They have a Ferrari because the want one, end of story.

For the record, in 2002, 44.3% of accidental deaths were motor vehicle relate .. the number one cause. Firearms were down at number 8 on the list and accounted for only 0.8%.

Why would there be a surplus of a piece of equipment that is still in active use by the military? I'm guessing all the 5.56 ammo cans are full of 5.56 ammo, piled high and tight in active military arsenals...

 

I carried my 7 and 9 year old daughters to the shooting range last wek with a .22 rifle I have had since I was a kid and they loved it. They both want their own gun now, which my wife isn't that thrilled with. I have over 20 handguns, rifles and shotguns which I paly with as much as I have time for. It is a good safe hobby that may just help you save your life or the life of a loved one one day...

 

Minigun is good. Can't fit vid but I am working on it.
