In wanting to check for ring-nut staking as a preventative measure, I assume it is main- and layshaft bearings on the drive side shown below? 1) Is is as simple as removing the cover and checking? 2) When you remove the cover there is no spring loaded bearings that fly all over is there? The exploded diagrams do not show anything notable in that regard. 3) It looks like there is no gasket but machined surface and sealant. 4) I suppose box has to come out to get clearance. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/348-transmission-removal.124766/
Did you see these threads? They might have the info you're looking for. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/clling-on-the-brotherhood-a-348-gerbox-problem.207294/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/348-flywheel-ring-nut-removal.146656/ https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/gearbox-whine-but-trouble-finding-the-issue.562090/
Good and bad, there are a bunch of threads on the ring nuts, or ringnuts (search both). Results will show the side ring nuts as well as those on the clutch shaft. For example: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/348-gearbox-rattle-noise.526106/
I'm confused. Is your intent to see if they have ever been staked or if they came loose? I suppose anything is possible but stakes don't just come undone.
From what I've read (and mostly a 348/Mondial t problem), some of the ones that weren't properly staked to begin with, ultimately, became undone. In other words, the staking, as a locking feature, was insufficient... so the ringnuts backed off which caused bearing failure.
