Im probably not going to drive it that far. I just had a radiator rebuilt and I dont trust IT or the people that did the work. Was hoping for some other meet. I can always come with my boys 6speed GTI :D. Way more fun than the Dino.

It is The Open, so any car works. GTIs are a blast. Sorry to hear about the radiator issues. I used Revcore in Woodstock for my 365. Tim is a bit eccentric, but he’s good. I got his name from Mark Baker (RIP).

There were actually two sweet ones there. I believe one was a Series II and the other a 110.

It was not sadly. My FuelFed cars are in Austin at the moment. I will be attending the show on 6/25 but it might be my last. We sold our place in Andersonville and will be living full time in Austin. We move out of the house on 7/17.

Sorry to see you go, but congratulations on the move. My cousin used to live there and I always enjoyed hanging out in Austin.

Thanks. We bought the Texas house in 2020 to be closer to my husband’s parents right before the real estate craziness really started to ramp up. But we will be visiting frequently and still have a lot of close friends here.

Are they still storing some of Jordan’s cars there? Last time I was there (long time ago) they had his 959 and 930 Slantnose amongst others stored upstairs.

Anyone going downtown for the NASCAR race? It should be amazing, and I don't follow NASCAR.

No thank you.. you couldn't pay me $465 to go. I'll maybe watch it on TV or just go boating instead.. There's nothing appealing about going down there... I can think of a million things better than wasting time in traffic and fighting the $hatshow it will be.

And now the 'clues' (if we needed any) of why NASCAR dumped Road America start to appear......:)

You dont need to convince me, I dont to be down there for anything, not even work. Ra would be fun to see those cars waddle through the corners.

They should have a pit stop challenge on cinder blocks. Safety car needs wheel locks too.!

Wow, you guys sound like a bunch of Floridians coming up to visit big bad Chicago. It's not that bad downtown.

That said the prices are over the top, and if I did go I would watch from a condo, not from the over priced grandstands. This is almost as bad as the Miami F1 race. Street courses in general are horrible. The White Sox colored car looks pretty cool.

Road America, the best track in the country will not miss them. Next up at Road America the Historical races with a large selection of vintage F1 cars this year followed by the IMSA race in August.

I’m all for a street race in Chicago, but whoever negotiated this deal is either on the take or clueless about how much money NASCAR generates. The city gets $2.00 per ticket, a percentage of souvenir sales, and $500,000 for repairing ( I mean renting) Grant Park and the roads. No wonder they left RA. Fortunately, I’m out of town for this craziness.

Hotels and restaurants will turn a buck as well.
Unfortuntaely someone working on the build out passed away today, perhaps electrocuted.
