Found on Replicarz website: http://www.replicarz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=RAR0804101 (only small photos - sadly not 'clickable'). No mention of it, as yet, on Real Art Replicas' (GMP) own website: http://www.realartreplicas.com/RAR%20menu.htm Serious lust. Serious price, too, sadly. $3995.00
I believe the formal announcement and information on this model will be at the Retromobile 3008 show in Paris, running Feb. 08 - 17 Let's see, if I sell most of my collection, I will have the money and space for this monster...
I just checked out CMP's Real Art Replicas section of their web site at http://www.gmpdiecast.com/products/default.cfm?category=1%3A8%20Scale. The P4 has not been posted yet. I did notice that the P4 is retailing for 2-3 times the price of their current releases!
I will have the very first batch in stock in May - contact me if you wish to purchase one. Payment plans are an option - US$3995 is the retail....the detail is phenomenal. Only 330 are being made!
Well, you can almost see that from the very small photos on Replicarz web page. Have you got any decent-sized photos (from GMP) that you could post, Morry ? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I am waiting for some higher res ones. When I get them I will post them. I can offer any interested buyers payment plans on this model, spread over 2 or 3 months. My opinion is that while it is pricey, it will sell out fast with only 330 being made.
Is the seat pattern correct on this car? I thought the P4 seat pattern lines went from right to left or side to side, not up and down. Up and down was on the P3's. Anyone have pics of this particular real car? And limited edition? 330 cars is not exactly limited especially at $4K each. However thats a decent price for an 8th scale high detail model. But I'd be suprised if they sell out anythime soon. But I guess you never know.
Ed. No - stitched ribs on P4 seat squabs definately ran longitudinally. It ran across the seat pads on the 350 Can-Ams though, for some reason. There were also sections of black vinyl padding between, and to either side of the two red seat squabs on #0860 (and others). Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Paul. I knew you would come through. I found some pics last night also that showed the pattern on this car. However, I could have sworn I have seen at least one P4 that had the pattern going side to side but I'm not sure of which one. The Fujimi plastic kit has them going that way but I never relied on them to be completely accurate
Ed. You're probably thinking of #0858 - but that's actually a 350 Can-Am. See: http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/0858.330P4.htm Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ah, that would be the one. Although a 350 Can Am at one time (and maybe still in that config) it was a P4 at LM. Did it have the same interior pattern in '67? I am guessing it probably did. And also, thanks for sending the link to the ebay auction of the pic P3 at Sebring.
Edit: Earlier erratum by yours truly. Ed. We may both have been used to seeing photos of #0858 with transverse stitched seat ribs - while in Walter Medlin's ownership .... .... and it's been that way a long time, too. But it's wrong !! I've just been checking back through various other photos of both #0858 and #0860 as 350 Can-Ams in 1967 .... .... the seat stitching also ran longitudinally (as per P4 spyders and berlinettas). So please excuse my earlier incorrect statement. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Seems the seats must have been re-trimmed (incorrectly) as far back as 1971. See photo below of #0858 from the Jochen Rindt Memorial Motor Sports show at the Nurburgring in 1971. Photo courtesey of, and copyright Fred Lewis © www.fredlewisphotos.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
I received a little reminder in this morning's mail, from GMP - their one-page brochure card / leaflet for the RAR 1:8 P4. Hmmm. I'm still seriously thinking about one of these (again). Morry .... I think we may need to talk. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh, yes. I wear a wrist watch, by the way. Quite a nice watch thank you. In fact, I have 'a few' watches - some real, and also some high quality fakes. But it's none of your business what make they are, as far as I am concerned. And, just because I'm thinking about spending $3995 on a 1:8 scale model P4 .... .... it doesn't mean I'm in the market for totally pointless OTT 'bling' watches. O.K.?
I have seen this closely in the place where they were made... it is really a fantastic handbuilt model... only 300 pieces will be made.
Replicarz are now also listing a Custom Display case for the R-A-R 1:8 330P4 - at $250. Gotta be a 'must have', too, really. See: http://www.replicarz.com/prodinfo.asp?number=RAR0804101C
