I have reached the point like several of you where I want to help the kids get a good start in life and I am ready to sell a few of my cars to do so. Trying to decide which ones to let go but I am so torn about this one since I have $325K in the car and now the market has gotten soft in the last year. Car has been nicely restored and has 26K miles on her. I do have a good amount of history about the car in a binder. Car is red... of course:) with gray cloth interior.

Any ideas on what she would be worth today. Don't want to take a bath but I need to at least consider selling her. Also want to know if I did decide to take her to auction, which auction would be best suited toget the best price.

    Thanks!

I am no expert but my opinion will be:
    -220k to 275k
-be ready for a wait up to a year to sell it. Same is true for the tr
-to get a quick sell you can try peter kumar at gullwing motors, beverly hills car club which will give you a wholsesaler price
-any dealer will take a good 10%
-a targeted auction with good advertisement could be a good way to get the most money.

Gooding does the best in this price range of Fcars, not as good with lower end Fcars which they tend to stay away from.

I was thinking in the neighborhood of $250K so you are right in the money. I just don't think I am willing to take such a loss. I may give Peter a call. I think we may have spoken.

I have heard good things about them. May give it a try. I should probably wait until next year.

    IMO...
    The market has bottomed out
    Should not go any lower
    If Trump stays on track
The pendulum should stike upwards within 18 months.
    Just sayin !

Hope so as these cars were getting close to $500K just a few years ago. Bottom is an understatement. What a roller coaster

Well, the bottom is not reached yet ... prices are falling on the continent of Europe.

Only the very few super mint cars do get a nice price.

Do dealers buy your cars ? I wonder because over here they do not ... (have no spare money to do so) ...

Or did I get that wrong here ...

Agreed, and we have seen some decent prices here and there, which may be outliers at present.

one question though, do you think the peak in 2014 was hit because speculative money was looking for tangible assets and now that the pressure is off the speculative money is no longer there. Also during the runup to 2014 lots of cars came out of the woodwork, not just BBs but everythign, so availably supply has also grown a lot.

in otehr words till spculative money starts looking for car investments again we may not see another runup. Or is it possible that people will make lots of money in the next few years and be looking for collctables. While I think BBis are certainly collcatble now, and may well be one of the next big things next round, untill these two drivers of the market appear its going to be at best flat.

meanwhile the market is off a realistic 25-30%. Condition is evreythign for sale price.

Seems like euro ask prices are 20% higher.

    Thoughts ?
    OK here's mine;
Boxers are still the most underappreciated Ferrari in the USA and perhaps the planet.

A Boxer vs a 458 convertible equal in value ?

No..the 458 is still falling in value. The boxer, although not as valuable as it was i think is still the better investment. As for driving and really wanting to go fast..cant get a better car then the 458.

Sounds like you have a nice example, so I don't see why you couldn't get closer to 300k or more at auction. If you are reluctantly considering selling, just choose a price you are comfortable with and see if you get any bites. But yes, to sell quickly contact dealers and expect 250k or lower

Check out Thomas Hamann, Ferrari broker in Connecticut. He is German and can get you a good price selling in Europe. Tell him that Axel sent you. A.
