I don't recall the manual cover car being 2 tone inside.
That pic is in Coltrin's book, but I think without info in the caption, I'll check tonight.

By the way, 88.5 was pretty low #. And they are hot too.
I rec'd a call from a lady selling hers last Thursday. Called Sunday to go see it, but it was traded in the day before. I called the dealer this week, he sold it Saturday, the same day taken in. It's going to Florida. Looks like the white one Joe posted, but with US markers. 6500 miles.

I just told my wife it was gone already and she said, "Why do you do this to yourself?"

    Florida? Tony??

The speed of that car's sale speaks to the state of the market......the LP400 we had in California sold in days to the very first person it was presented to.

What is the official pronunciation and definition of "Countach"?

The word countach (help·info) (pronounced ˈkun.tɑʃ) is an exclamation of astonishment in the local Piedmontese language - generally used by men on seeing an extremely beautiful woman [1]. While the term is considered untranslatable, it can be considered the verbal equivalent of a Wolf Whistle.

When a dealer gets a car on trade and then it's gone...it was most likley wholesaled and going to a dealer in Florida. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Actually ive never heard a true translation of the Piedmont dialect word Countach, but its something like **** me, or words to that affect!! (usually a little cleaner in the media versions of the story) The word uttered by Bertone (so the story goes) when he first layed eyes upoun Gandinis Creation.I think its a very apt word!

Thats a good question.... I've heard at least three stories about the first utterance...

    1) It was a person on the street on one of its first test drives.

    2) It was a delivery guy seeing it come out of the paint booth.

    3) It was Bertone himself when he saw Gandini's drawings - up to that point it was "project LP 112" - officially intro'ed as the LP 500. I believe thats the "official" story.

According to an interview Nuccio Bertone gave GM Europe boss Dick Ruzzin, he was sitting in his office with 3 other Bertone designers and he called Marcello Gandini to bring in his renderings of the LP112. Upon seeing the silhouette of the car he uttered: "Countach!" and it was the others in the room that christened the supercar-to-be with that exclaimed name. The 'old man' just went along with it.

Ex GM Design Director (which makes sense as to why he was "hanging" with Bertone).

Can we go for more Countach trivia?

    1) What were the color(s) of the first four (prototype) Countach's?

    2) Name some significant (visual) differences between the prototypes?

    3) What is notably "missing" on the 1st prototype?

OK..... On the Miura and Countach threads, we usually ask the posters of multiple question trivia tests to go ahead and enlighten us themselves....SO, fire away. We are all ears (or eyes in this case).
