replica or not, that miura is impressive. i wish they would lower the rear and get a proper set of wheels...it would be nearly impossible not to pass as real!!

    not a highly replicated machine!!

I would guess they will lower the rear a bit more as they finish it up. It's hard to get stance correct until the whole car is together.

The car needs a bit more work. The shape is wrong.

    My feelings about replicas:

All kits that are built off of other cars are horrible.

But cars that are carefully built to resemble the original one are great. You get to experience the car when it was new and don't really have to worry about it. The only problem is that you're not getting the investment that buying the real one gets you.

Check out this Porsche, I think it's pretty cool how they make it completely original, build the correct engine and so on:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsche-356-NEW-2010-Intermeccanica-356A-Speedster-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem335d93c003QQitemZ220613296131QQptZUSQ5fCarsQ5fTrucks#ht_6107wt_1167

Not crazy about the color, but again it's cool that's even original.

Where? It looks very close, if not exact to me. I am sure there are some inaccuracies, but it is my understanding that the original mold was made from an original car and not designed to be fitted to any particular car.

The door shape is very wrong, the rocker looks too deep especially in the front.

The car looks too short although the above mentioned problems may be to blame.

More importantly, what does the rest of the car (under the skin) look like?

Don't call it a Miura or a Lamborghini. Put a different name on it and it's a beautiful car.......who cares about making it identical to the real thing?

It's a very custom Pontiac Fiero with an LS v8. Build can be followed here: http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum3/HTML/000003-17.html

I wouldn't call it a Miura either, but it sure looks sweet to me! Excellent build too.

I think the "too short" is a result of sitting to high in the rear coupled with the dull primer. Further, I don't think the rockers wrap under as far as on the original, making the body a hint taller. The door shape may also be a result of the primer as it keeps you from seeing the detail.

The bottom of the side door glass should be parallel with the bottom of the door and the car. It is not and this has caused all the visual problems. There is NO way a mold was taken off a real car. Not even the Italians make cars that far out :).

Real pity as it has forever ruined this replica :(.

    Actually... I can't tell.

How do we know that's not the genuine article? To be honest, I haven't really spent a lot of time looking at pictures of F40s.

To the untrained eye, it looks spot on. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you just pointed it out on the road and asked "Is that a real Miura?"

Actually, even if you parked it next to a real one, I probably wouldn't be able to pick out the real one from 10 paces.

    * * * * *

I guess I'm very focused in what supercars I'm interested in... I'd probably spot the smallest discrepancy in a 348 replica. ;)

    All the best,
    Andrew.

That doesn't bother me - an obvious Alpha Romeo that pays homage to the GTO without trying to look exactly like it or fool anyone. And it doesn't have Ferrari badges!

My only problem is the seats. They're way too damn big for that car!

Oh, my SmartCar is far superior for carrying pizzas. The most I've ever had in it was 15 pizzas. Importantly, my SmartCar has Ozzy, Dio, Eric Clapton, AC/DC, and Joe Bonamassa (x2) in the CD changer. ;)

    All the best,
