I'm from Lake Forest Il., got tired of exactly the same things, ie. one way to go for a ride NW towards Lake Geniva. After to many years of that I moved to the Texas Hill Country. 80 today and took both Ferraris for a romp on some of the best roads in this country. Check out Kerrville Texas.
Hey J...300 miles in one day and 8 years since a belt change? Cojones jack! Will you be driving it back to NY this spring?
For me its because im on the road 200 days a year and have three 'daily' drivers. I have another fun car that I dont fret about leaving in a parking lot. So low miles but enough to keep all the parts properly exercised.
Looking back 1 year... They have doubled in 12 months 1994 Ferrari 512 TR | Amelia Island 2014 | RM AUCTIONS
Just to clarify Are you suggesting that it would sell for 300k now? I need to get mine appraised and insured properly.
Value on a 1988.5, 30k miles, red/black, F40 big Brembo brakes, 18" HRE wheels, CF glass deck, recent major, newer clutch, Helms fusebox, all papers/records. Same owner since 2000., bought from FofDenver. Just curious on your thoughts.
Put the original wheels and deck lid back on to appeal to the broad spectrum of buyers. I would insure it for 90K.
Thanks for the feedback. I cant put 16" wheels back on and why would I do that? Braking was the weakest part of the TR. I'd rather be safer than original. The Brembo big brake kit requires 18" wheels. I did keep the original deck lid, but the CF deck lid is worth more now that Norwood stopped production. The purists have to get over this "originality" Hangup if upgrades do in fact, improve performance and safety (unless it's a very, very rare car) Sent via itty bitty electrons
See my post on "yellow brakes" I seem to have a brembo kit on 13" rotors which fits under the 16" wheels Probably not the ultimate upgrade, but still a healthy improvement on stock, whilst maintaining superficial originality.
I believe my cross drilled rotors are 17" on the front wheels. The car stops on a dime. Sent via itty bitty electrons
Brad, the key to a boat in Chicago is having a friend who owns one. Obviously, your friends are trying to get you to purchase one...for their benefit!
EXACTLY. I even told them more than once that I'll be happy to go and buy one tomorrow. And then they will be responsible for insuring it, storing it in the winter, finding and paying for a slip, paying for gas, and for dealing with all of the crap that goes wrong with it. And for hauling it around on the trailer! All so that they can float around on some water a dozen times a year due to the non-existent season In the end, I would come out ahead, wouldn't take long to average out. Probably less than 2 years
Off topic - sorry LOL I just donated a 32' racing sailboat and hitched a ride on a buddies 40' sailboat racer. No more hassles with haul out, insurance, maintenance, weekly diver, crew food and beer, hurricane watch, etc. best days were when I bought and donated my boats here on the Chesapeake Sent via itty bitty electrons
TR's getting more attention as sort after classics. https://autos.yahoo.com/photos/the-10-old-cars-turning-into-collectable-classics-in-2015-slideshow/ 1986 Ferrari Testarossa Its largely the same story as the 308/328, but while the V-8 cars style never really went out of fashion, the Ferrari Testarossa seems to have become old hat since the day that Crockett and Tubbs took off their unconstructed blazers and Beltrami slacks for the last time. But this 12-cylinder beast with a famous name is anything but a cliché today as Gen-Xers begin to assemble collections of cars that spoke to them as teenagers. The days of good $50,000 TRs are about over.
If you look real hard, you can find TR's under $50,000 or even $25,000. $18,000 TR, "It's got the look, man. You get a lot of THUMBS UP!" One-owner car guy. Call him. Replica Kit Makes Testarossa Replica 2 Door Convertible | eBay WARNING: Do not eat prior to watching the video.
Can't believe they used a bastardized '86 for their slideshow. No problem though as the more bastardized cars there are the more the unmolested ones will be worth.
