If I recall right US cars were sold as 365 GTB/4 Spiders to avoid evaluation by DOT as required for a new model.

After some research, it seems that every US daytona has a GTB plate, even spiders.
So I think kare is right : GTS or GTS-A are for genuine european spiders only.

you are correct, that was the reason for the GTB designation on USA Spiders.

First of all, thank you for having this question, I admit that I didn't know the reason.
As for the GTB-A, the letter A was to indicate that the chassis was reinforced.

    Hello
It occurs that the -A extension appears on the homologation sheet of the pop-up front end Daytona.
So GTB-A could just be for pop-up versions.
But it is not the case for the GTS since there are pop-up spiders with GTS plates...

The correct answer is that the A types used the Daytona spyder frame, which has a thicker wall thickness in the tubing for more strength, the extra weight difference is negligible.

    Thank you Gary.
What could then be the difference between GTS ans GTS-A cars ? Did they put -A on both coupes and spiders as soon as coupes used spider frame ? Even if spiders had not changed ?
    What do you think ?
