Difference between Euro and US Dino

Drew365 - as dm_n_stuff implied, 206 was aluminum, however, 246 was steel with the exception of the front and rear deck lids. The front, engine and trunk lids are aluminum. I do not believe they were left over parts, but a result of the intended design (to lighten the vehicle by using aluminum on non-structural lids).

On the Dino all body parts are non-structural as the car is built on a spaceframe chassis.

'couple of anomalies on the yellow Dino:
1. The round "ripetitori laterale" (side repeater light) on the rear fender is normally not present on any Dino.
2. The round "side repeater lights" are too large for a 206/246. They are similar to those found on other Italian cars of that era. In this case, they may have been utilized as "side marker lights" on all four fenders in deference to DOT compliance & in lieu of the the rectangular lights normally found on USA-spec cars.
For clarification:
'Side REPEATER Lights' mimic the turn signal lights: Blink. They were installed in the front fenders only.
'Side MARKER Lights' mimic the parking and/or running lights: Continuous. They were installed in all four fenders.

Later USA Dino Length?

Are the later USA Dinos with double bracket bumpers longer than previous USA and all other market Dinos which are stated as being 4235 mm long?

I have an M-Series (01458) that was built for European sale. I was told that the M-Series were 100kg (220 pounds) lighter than the E-Series due to added steel to make the car pass the DOT crash test. For those who have restored both series, can this be confirmed?

 

I would imagine Euro M-Serie and Euro E-Series Dino Coupes to be close in weight. Only main differences I know of is M-Series have thinner bumpers, Alu front lid and different fuse box. Plus lot of smaller details. If there are structural differences I would love to know. An A/C equipped Dino is probably about 70lbs+ heavier.
