page M10-M14 in the manual pretty much covers it. The lights in Wantirna must dull when you move all that iron on those hoists.

I'm just about done getting the motor out of my 1990 Testarossa. Phil's write-up and pictures at http://web.me.com/philworrall/Testarossa_service_and_detail/Welcome.html are terrific. Now I'm trying to figure out the best way to get to the air conditioner bolt so I don't have to discharge the system. Only special tools so far are 46 and 36mm wrenches for the oil lines.

Leave the AC pump in place all bolted and connected up until you have the engine at least 4 inches down and a couple of inches out towards the back. This will allow you to get the main mounting bolts out easily. Once all is free use a strong tie wrap to fasten the pump to one of the holes thats used for attaching the rear screen grill/ painted strip. You can leave the pump there until you are ready to re-connect when the engine is "almost" back in.

Ah ha! Well, as it turned out, I was able to get the bolt mostly out from underneath the car, but I'll use your suggestion. Thank you! Sorry for the noise on this thread, I was just replying to the comment about getting a TR motor out. Pictures look good on the differential carrier! Can't wait to see the finished product.

No, no, no...this can't fall onto the second page! :)

I do not own a TR, so I have not stared at the diff diagrams
for hours. So if someone would like to simplify this for me/us
    it would be great.

So we're basically talking here about a deal where you get all
the parts to essentially eliminate the "weak diff" issue, right?

    Correct Wes !

The gearbox was initially made to handle 300 Bhp's in the F365; in the 512TR this gearbox must deal now already with up to 428 Bhp and breaks.

These new diffs must indeed stop this problem now.

There are some options as you can read in all the threads.

Most offered diffs use the parts out of the original diff/gearbox, only the U.K. diff comes completely fitted with new parts (not OEM).

I was speaking with an independent Ferrari mechanic who stated that replacing the diff carrier would just cause the input shaft to fail next. His thought was that the 512 gearbox is junk and when you upgrade one component you just move the failure down the line.

It's great to see another diff that is available for the 512BB and 512.

It is considerably cheaper than Newman' diff, but I can tell you, that Newman's diff is a great piece, I am happy.
