Haha! Unfortunately I don't have a wife or a girlfriend... I did not design this car for myself, although it looks a bit like my mother.
"To design the perfect car for a man, just show me the three women he loves the most: his wife, his mother and his girlfriend" and if you designs for a woman?
Absolutely perfect! The only thing I don't like that much is the small spoiler in the back. Have you thought about implementing it like in the Wiesmann GT? I tried to adapt your picture a little to illustrate my point, but I'm not a photoshop wizard like you . http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/8444/spoiler6we.jpg I hope you don't mind, it's only a suggestion, and in the end, it all comes down to personal taste .
HAHA, I knew you would come up with some question like that! Well, just let me take a look at you then! Yes, I thought about that, but I didn't like it. I also tried to use a spoiler like the Continental GT, but then the rear was not very strong anymore. This small ducktail gives it some sort of semi-modern "b*tchy look".
Wow - more great designs - love George's GTC (looks similar to the one off 612 special that pininfarina have just built for (I believe) a big New York real estate developer) and Michiel, your Zagato style Vanquish looks amazing. Styling-wise the Zagato Astons have always been some of my favourite cars ever - I even like the mid 80's Zagato Vantage. Also, f48koenig I like the way you have used the Zagato double bubble roof in your DB7 Zagato Shooting Break. Sorry to get off topic slightly, but in the pictures that Michiel has posted of the DB4 Zagato, the bottom one (the one that appears to be a bare body in Aluminium) looks to have a grille/air intake arrangement that I'm unfamiliar with. Anyone know any more about it?
You mean the 612 commissioned by Peter Kalikow. See this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=101817 and this article: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=http://www.repubblica.it/2006/04/motori/aprile2006/ferrari-scaglietti/ferrari-scaglietti.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3DFerrari%2BScaglietti%2BKalikow%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26rls%3DGGLR,GGLR:2005-42,GGLR:en All Zagato DB4 GT's are different.... It is this type of grille I've used on the Vanquish conversion. Below some more examples.... Yep that's the one. I heard about it from this thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=102126 but couldn't remember the owner's name. Very subtle changes, but the overall effect is great. Thanks for the info on the DB4 Zagato - I never realised they all had different grille designs. Love that pic of the bare aluminium one!
Well, actually... that will do very well... The main difference between men and women (in general) is that women want a car that reflects their personality, mostly regardingless what others might think of it. Men mostly want to show their "good" taste to impress and "chase away" other men. Women don't want to show off with their taste to impress, women want to show themselves.
Wrong. Use generic lamp units, e.g., Hella bi-xenon in a custom housing (such as a cf moulding). The lamps are already approved, the moulding doesn't need to be and can therefore make the headlights appear different. You can draw well but please brush-up on your engineering and legislation knowledge.
You're right about that! I don't care what others may think about my taste... I'm more interrested in showing who I am... no doubt about that!
Thanks! Good to know. That is what I have experienced at my former employer... But now I'm talking about small series European cars. I don't know legislation in the US about one-offs. I'm young and still learning. You're right, I'm not an engineer. That's why I need to work in a team with people who know more about legislation, production and engineering than I do. If I knew all about it, the knowledge could kill some of my creativity. It's better to be pulled back sometimes and being put with both feet on the ground again, than never to try new things because of all the rules whistling in the back of my head. Fresh ideas can also push the engineers to come up with new solutions. What do you think about the styling of my new Mondial? Yeah, sure!
Zertec, How is CF work bid? Say you have a new bumper design and want to make it out of CF. Or an entire body. How is the bid put together? What is it based on? I've made fiberglass molds in the past. It sounds like CF molds would be the same. And the lay-up sounds about the same as well. The only part that's different is the autoclave/baking. Am I missing any steps?
Haha, you'll have to wait a few days more, I'm afraid. I was away from home to work on some other designprojects. Tomorrow I'm going to see some fellow Fchatters at the first Dutch Fchatmeeting! I'm sure I'll get inspired that day and possibly there will be some new drawings to show next week.
Michiel, Care to have a go with the F40 design? I'm not sure where you would go with it. Could be interesting.... Simon
What would you like to see? Do you want a rebody of an existing F40 by restyling the bodypanels and not changing the structure? Or would you like to see a new "F60/Enzo..FXX"-supercar inspired by the F40-styling?
Because I like the Scaglietti from Peter Kalikow more than the original 612, I used this car as a base for the shootingbreak. Image Unavailable, Please Login
HMMM,...I think you should decide. You seem to have a good mind for these things. If I must decide, I would go for a new supercar inspired by the F40, but use your judgement as to which you would find more appropriate.
Beautiful. That would also make a nice four door with about 6 inches to the wheelbase as you did before.
I have a new idea....and need all the help available on Fchat. There is a lot of expertise present here on Fchat and I thought it would be nice to gather everyone who has experience in the automotive business to join forces and knowledge. I want to start a virtual designprocess in a new thread where we will design alltogether a new Fchat Ferrari from scratch, including chassis, packaging, many technical components and the body. It will not be a very detailed process, but more a general overview on how a car is designed and developped to a conceptstage. It will be some sort of opensource project where anyone who has something to contribute is very welcome to provide all the input he or she can give. I need Fchatters who know about engine-development, chassis-development, general packaging, ergonomics, legislation, aerodynamics, 3D-modelling and all other skills and expertise that can be applied to this concept-project. I would like to do the styling of the exterior and interior, but offcourse everyone is welcome to show us their own idea's. I have chosen to do a proposal to Ferrari for a new Dino. Since Ferrari is not bringing a new Dino, it would be quite safe to start this project on Fchat exclusive. So, it will be a mid-engined V6 twoseater sportscar as a tribute to the original Dino. Anyone who wants to join this project can send me a PM. Please tell me your expertise and what you would like to contribute. Let's show Ferrari what Fchatters can bring when all our passion is combined! Image Unavailable, Please Login
wow this sounds like an amazing idea. Unfortunately I have none of the required skills, but look forward to watching from the sidelines!
