Does anyone have access to the Member Registers of FCA or FOC? Regards from Europe
Great, i got an answer (206/246thread): - http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=157795 DINO 04220 participated to a promotion campaign of the GALLIANO LIQUOR 1990 in Palm Beach. It was yellow painted. Does it remember one something here?
yellow/tan is an unusual color combo. Personally I love it. Personally I understand why thec ar was repainted. Gold/tan????What was Chinetti smoking the day he ordered the car?
I had a good laugh at your message Cavallino. Thanks for that. But you are definitively right, "GOLD with TAN interior" (confirmed original specs by Maranello) is not a common combination of colours, so that some body might easier remember it. The buyer in 1972 must have smoked the same thing as Chinetti did. He is the one we are trying to meet !!!??? ...Who repainted a GOLD car in RED between 1973 and 1989?...this is a place for me to ask to. I would like to know about the famous places "Ferrari Owners of the Seventies-Eighties" were going to for meetings in Florida? Don't you have pictures of that and don't you see a DINO with this unusual combination of colors? It was perhaps DINO 04220. Thanks to all of you.
one of the sponsors of this site has a banner running: " Italian Car Fest" In the banner it shows a gold Dino.
HEY!!! B enice about the gold and tan banter, you'll hurt my feelings Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looking in the internet, I have found more than 200 different "246 GTS" with chassis-number actually pictured: - about 50% are red - about 20% are yellow - about 30% are other colours GOLD, I have seen only yours, wspeer. It seems effectively to be rare and I like it. But I am a smoker as well (might explain)... Any way, thinking to repaint mine in the next few years, I'll have to take the basic decision of the "original specs" or not. It is good to have pictures for that. I just noticed that on the screen and printed on a paper, GOLD looks quite different compared to the car pictured on the link given by Cavallino. Still, I would like to see pictures of 04220 in the "seventies - eighties"...if anybody have! Sincerely
As for the gold color- "chacun a son gout", non? I may well have a picture of the car in fly yellow from that Galliano sighting in Palm Beach, but finding it could be very difficult. When I have some time I'll try to take a look through my old photos from that era, but can't promise anything- I've got several drawers full of that stuff.
I think I will close that thread now. Ira, I was very excited by reading your good news. I'll enjoy very much to see how this "246 GTS supported GALLIANO promotion" looked like. Don't hesitate to contact me by PM or E-mail if you need, and many thanks in advance for your effort. As a further step, I will contact the clubs in Florida to know if DINO 04220 was a member. But I'll first have to find out which clubs did exist in the seventies-eighties. If somebody have access or a good address to ask for, please PM or E-mail me as well. I'll give an answer. Thanks to all and best regards from Switzerland
Thanks Martin. I wrote also to the FOC of Florida. Let's wait for answers! Chinetti perhaps delivered the car 1972 to a dealer in Florida. This is a trace I want to follow as well. "Cavallino_Motors" (as I see, you are a professional), do you (or anybody) remember the Ferrari-dealers active 1970-1990 in Florida and who it is today? Regards Patrick
In 1972 I was going to Kindergarden. Barely remember that.... Then there were not that many options back then. Call Will at Shelton, he is the GM and can probably give you a few answers on that. Did you try to trace it through FNA and their Ferrari owners system? FNA is surprisingly helpful. in those matters, especially with cars of vintage.
Okay, here are two lousy old photos I found in an envelope marked "Palm Beach- November 20-25, 1990". I THINK they're #04220, but can't be certain. If you'd like the negatives, send me your address and I'll mail them to you. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
...Ira, I'm afraid the car in your pictures is not 04220. Personaly, I have never seen head lights covers on it. The body is now more or less reworked to a "European version" I believe (head lights curved, turn indicator lights, side markers,...), but it has still both wipers parked to centre. Compared to your picture Nr. 1, it seems different in that respect. Let's wait if I get confirmation from an other contact person (he might also have some pictures); I'll come back if it does. Thanks very much already for your time...and perhaps would you have been twice at Palm Beach in 1990. I wonder how the "big Galliano World Tour decals" you mentioned in the 206/246 thread looked like; do we see it on the negatives? Sincerely Patrick Image Unavailable, Please Login
Patrick, I was in PB at least twice that year, so it's entirely possible that this is not 04220, and that there's another set of photos floating around someplace. I too was expecting to see the Galliano decals and they're definitely not there, so . . . Ira
