I recall a Rosso Rubino F&C Dino sold for $225K in Sept 88

 

...and I passed one up for $65K in 2002 because I was a moron and couldn't get my crap together.

Don't feel bad. I passed on three different GTS cars in the last six months, all about $80K+-.

BUT... they all needed copious amounts of work.

 

I was just wondering if prices from the late eighties should even be considered. That was an incredibly insane time. Do you guys think that will happen again? As much as I love the Dino, I personally don't see the Dino worth a quarter mil. I've said mine's a keeper. But if someone came knocking with an offer of a quarter mil, I'd seriously consider it.

 

Hell, cut me a check for $150,000, and my 97 point car would be on the trailer.

my 74 dino gts sold for $275k just before the market busted in 1990.

 

I have not been privy to any sales this spring and that makes it very difficult to tell where the market is.

On the other hand, lack of sales may be due to diminshed inventories and pent up demand.

Hammer price 89,000 Euros + 10% buyers premium= $125,000 US Dollars + VAT

Also a note of interest, check the price on the Lusso with period race history(US$586,994). That seems like a roughly 50% premium.

Aloha...David Pham's yellow GTS in FML sold for $150k with 2 back-up offers.....it was beyond immaculate w/tools/books/key fob/etc. etc.

Demand is strong for Platimnum cars.....another yellow GT went for $125 and a blue GTS one went for 127.5........all this year. My 206 GT cost me $120k in January and was restored nut and bolt in the early 90's. A Yellow 72 GT on e-bay is now at $80k and may go for more.....gregg blue

 

When you have nothing better to do(as i just have) have a look at the welding on the chassis metalwork bearing the chassis number of the car, is it me or does it look to you as if somebody has cut that plate off and welded it back on! do you know what i mean???

The dino for sale in my list was priced at an eye-watering £180,000

 

I sold my Euro 1972 red Dino 246GT (Coupe) to a Japanese buyer in 1990 (circa) for U.S. $110,000. Mike Sheehan took premium above this value.

Not to fan the flame, but just need to note that Sports Car Market's current issue reports that a Triumph TR4 sold for US$99.9k. The TR4 is a nice car, but the price makes Dinos a bargain.

 

Wow. At this rate, I've got only another 10 years and I'll be at a break even point on my Dino purchase and restoration! :{)

 

Not if you maintain your Dino to a good standard.
