At the concours events I go to, there are as many Euro cars as US in the Dino section. This may just be a Northeast US anomaly, as I haven't gotten too far out of my own zip code for shows. DM
We're all amateurs but i am really pleased you are sorting it as i was beginning to feel guilty for pointing it out!
Most so called professionals could not even imagine let alone aspire to the quality level and thoroughness of your project. Furthermore, Amateur is a positive affirmation of what keeps this group and these cars alive. Your documentation is helping me and I am sure, anyone who owns will own or will work on a Dino. Well done mate!
I figured out my huge mistake, am I glad you guys pointed it out. When I got the light fixtures (used) they were marked left and right, only that they were reversed. I was trying to get the inside edge lined up properly which was throwing the other angle way off, due to trying to fit a left on a right and visa versa. Rookie mistake, hope this looks better. Still scheduled for the blaster on Wed. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jon If you have a moment, could you give me a measurement from the tip of the nose of the car to the face of the headlight mounting flange taken on the car centerline. In other words, I would like to know how far the nose extends past the headlight flange when viewed from the side. Thank you.
omgjon, no need to appologise for being an amature! I have never seen such a professional job. I have been following with keen interest and I know you are having the time of your life. It would be nice to see it in person one day. Kudo's.
Now that the lights are sorted out, I took the doors and lids to be blasted today and tomorrow I deliver the body on the rotisserie to be blasted. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A lot going on today. Delivered the body to the blaster and they began. I worked on overhauling the master cyclinder and brake balancer. Lots of gunk in them. Started sorting the front suspension so we can put the bushings in and tack weld. Hopefully no screw-ups. I also got this cool flaring tool and practiced making bubble flares. Thought I would start on the hydraulic system. Questions: I got a master cyclinder rebuild kit from Superformance. It came with 4 rubber washers, their picture shows 4, but mine only has three. Whats the deal? Any source for the copper crush washers that go on master cyclinder and brake balancer. Sorry to be so mysterious....... I have a Alfa Spider with the US rubber bumpers and would like to do something a bit different for a front end treatment. The Alfa nose is somewhat similar to the Dino but more snub, so I trying to determine how similar/different they are from the headlights forward...but have no Dino for reference. Thus the request. Great thread BTW. Thanks again
Jon, Use the flash to fill in the shadows on the small parts. Gives much more detail and the outside light still shows forms well. Paint is coming off nicely. John
