Hi, I must replace the left door glass lifter (manual one) on my 246GTS. I bought the corresponding part some times ago from Dinoparts. Can some one here in the forum give me the right procedure to remove the old mechanism and instal the new one (with cable), if possible step by step? Thanks in advance for your support. Regards. Yves.
Yves Its a tricky job, i would do a search on the forum and source information from the numerous restoration posts that have been made. Some forum users have done quite a few on these and may post some help, if not you may have to research some old archives. 246 dino restoration in another good blog which may help Dino 246 Restoration Blog
I've taken a shot at describing the first part in this DIY http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/206-246/184104-dino-diy-removing-interior-door-panel.html At this point the door "card" panel and edge bolster will have been removed from the car. I am not sure about your manual winder but here is how I accessed and removed my electrical winder during the restoration: Find the glass carrier at the bottom edge of the glass and measure the distance between the securing bolts and the bottom pulley Next you'll need to remove the window glass. Since you have a GTS this makes it a bit easier as you do not have the GT's window frame to overcome 1) Remove the 2 window carrier tray bolts at the bottom of the glass to free the glass. 2) try and lift the glass up and remove it from the door NOTE: You might not be able to pull the glass up and out of the door at this point, not all cars have the same clearance. But definitely do not apply much pressure 3) If the glass does not come out easily unbolt the two mounting fasteners that secure the vertical portion of the chrome wing window, move it slightly to allow more space, then pull the glass up to remove it. 4) take MANY photos of the cable routing and pulleys. 5) Unbolt the electric window motor, remove and replace. Thanks. But do I really have to remove the window? Can't I just unscrew the securing bolts to free the cable? And change the it while keeping the window up. Del
