You are correct. The thing this thread is referring to is usually called jacka$$ parking.

What are these "parking lots" that you speak of? Here in NYC, we have something like them, and you can take up as many spots as you please: Instead of paying the attendant $25 for 2 hours, you can pay $50!

Sure! I do my weekly food shopping in the Lotus; it holds a surprising amount of bags if you distribute it right. I never take 2 spots; I park half way down a row where it's less congested.

Damn, my friends in MD avoid VA for the exact same reason. Some won't even cross the Legion bridge or venture anywhere south of Georgetown for that reason!

Well, it's not like they're all MD residents.

You've got to really like cars to pay the NoVA tax rates on cars.

I'm pretty sure that all these MD tags at the market aren't people from MD who came to VA for our wunnerful grocery stores.

So the dweebs carrying MD tags when they bounce off the center divider or run down the parking lanes to cut into traffic in front of someone who didn't actually block a side street, etc., aren't necessarily MD residents: just people who don't care about cars enough to put up with tax rates past the point of negative returns.

I often park my Audi as far out in the boondocks as possible and without fail upon my return, I'll find a SUV or something right next to me.

How many trips do you have to make? ;)

Grocery store parking lots are the worst - moms with multiple toddlers, wheeled carts and everyone driving in reverse. Not Ferrari-friendly...

    I dunno....we don't have a Wegmans close to us and I hear it's a wonderful store.
I understand what yer sayin' though....our neighborhood sports cars regsitered from all over the US and they've lived here for years...just don't want to pay the tax to register them here.
