Dubois-Dépraz Hereroptic Bi-Compax 55-Jewel Chronograph with authentication by Mr. Dubois. Very rare and unique.

For sale is my very rare, unique and beautiful classic bi-compax chronometer by Dubois-Dépraz.

Established in the Joux Valley since its creation in 1901 (see picture) Dubois Dépraz, which has some fifty customers mainly in the top (90-95%) (Patek, Rolex, Audemard Piguet, etc) and midrange segments, is a manufacturer of both complications and components and develops new complications on behalf of its customers.

This watch uses as a base an ETA2892 top grade and a DD2020 chronograph module by Dubois Dépraz. It is running an excellent (average 5 positions) +2sec with a 7sec Δ, and a beat error of .2.

The case, dial and pushers are similarly made from the best Swiss components. I usually do not like Mother of Pearl dials, just those two hereoptic ever changing sub-dials are truly magnificent.

    Maker: Dubois-Dépraz
    Material: Stainless steel
    Dimensions: 43mm diameter; 12.9mm thickness
    Crystal: Sapphire, scratch free
    Power Reserve: 46 hours
    Number of Jewels: 55
    Vibrations: 28,800
Caliber: ETA2892 top grade and a DD2020 chronograph module by Dubois Dépraz
    Lug Width: 21mm
    Case Back: Transparent
Extra: One brand new leather strap
Box/Papers: No box, confirmation email from Dubois-Dépraz

See many pictures showing the excellent condition of the Dubois-Dépraz with many years left to wear, and then hand down to the next generation. The case is in very good condition with few very tiny marks. The pushers show no wear as well. The dial is perfect.

Pricing an exceedingly rare high-quality watch is a difficult exercise. Current high tier chronographs run from $7500 to well over $10000.

Period chronograph, with similar innards, such as this similar looking Audemars- Piguet Huitième Triple Register Chronograph is powered by self-winding caliber 2126, which derived from the caliber 899/1 by Jaeger-LeCoultre with an additional chronograph module by Dubois Dépraz has an asking price of $12999. (Ebay item 224674205842)

An Aerowatch Hommage 1910 73946 TI01 also with a DD module has an asking price of $15800. (Ebay item 224423754715)

Or this HEUER Model 2000 Re. 162.206 w/40 Jewel Automatic LWO 283 ETA 2892 Dubois Depraz for $7500. (Ebay item 153825113588)

This watch is unique and makes an enjoyable conversation starter. I listed it on WUS but I offer it here at a reduced price:

$5900 OBO, CONUS 48 shipping included.
