Elio Motors...80+ MPG HWY...retails ~ $7K...to be built in USA

Who will be the first to do an engine swap or a FI power adder?

 

Elio Motors has been bombarding Facebook with their ad campaign, seems they are in more for the t-shirt sales & government subsidies.

 

The Elio will be licensed as a motorcycle. First question: how many of the 11k reservation holders have MC licenses? Second question: what's the dealer/service network for the vehicle? there are anymore questions to be asked, but they matter little if you don't get the right answers to the two above. Not raining on the Elio parade, but the biz plan just doesn't compute.

 

The motorcycle license issue is a valid point. I wonder how they will address it.

Yet, the premise of a $7k, safe, trike that gets 84mpg and goes over 100 intrigues me.

 

Another crowd funded startup circles the drain, Elio burned through cash like a wildfire at the same time lining executive pockets. It really was the Dale Car 2.0 for the new millennium.
