Hi, Does anyone know the layout of the cylinder nos for a 360 and 430 please? Also when changing a coil, do u need to disconnect the battery? Thanks
No need to disconnect battery. No.1 is r/h bank, nearest front of the car. 4 is the rearmost of the same bank. 5 is opposite 4 and 8 furthest forward of l/h bank..
Thanks. This diagram seems to suggest that 1 is opposite 5 Ferrari 360 GT Challenge Stradale group N-GT (2004) - Racing Cars Confused now.
On this thread, it states 8 is top left from rear - http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/441682-cylinder-numbering.html here it says its bottom left from rear - http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/409207-code-p0303-cylinder-3-misfire.html
I presume you've had a misfire and want to replace that coil? And I presume that its on the drivers side bank 5-8? If it was me and I was so unsure, I might disconnect the fuel injector at the #8 cylinder. Start the car for a few seconds then stop it, reconnect the injector and then plug the OBD2 reader in and obtain the codes present. You should have a code that indicates an error with cylinder 8 injector. Then reset the codes and note it in your log for future reference. Then I would have confirmed that #8 cylinder is the front most on the drivers side. (unless anyone can offer a reason why this would kill the engine? if only a few seconds)
Thanks, that confirms what a local garage just said. Looks like there is some incorrect info floating on net!
My fuel injector cabling, on my F430, has small silver strips of tape with numbers on them which agree with the above.
Greg, what's the 1, 4, 2, 3 on the LH intake plenum? I understand that there is some crossflow between the LH intake plenum and the RH cylinders, but I don't understand the numbering. Image Unavailable, Please Login
those are for caption puproses. like: 1 = vacuum line going to somewhere 2. screw for tightening down the cap 10 bracket for something
I thought they indicated the number of sodas one had to drink to get those particular pistons to TDC!!! Honestly I have no idea but maybe 24000rpm has something Here's the firing order pictorial Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry, I meant on the colour photo in the post before mine. My diagram was to show the crossflow tubing.
Just an FYI - they appear to come labeled! Image Unavailable, Please Login I thought I would label them when changing plugs and discovered they already are! Not just my car, but also on the crate motor on BaT as well as the 430 that is also listed. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/ferrrari-i-have-two/
I came across this thread while trying to confirm L vs R side of engine so I know which timing tensioner is which. "Driver side" and "passenger side" are a horrible way to describe things as our steering wheels aren't all on the same side. "Left side" and "right side" depends on which end of the car you are on (not everyone gets it). Some are confused on which end of the engine is front and back. I'm reading the replies and they aren't really too helpful for those new to all of this, otherwise they wouldn't be asking. So, here is a picture for anyone else who happens to find this thread while searching. I tried to compile all the posts (I didn't come up with any of this information on my own) to make it as simple and definitive as possible so there is zero confusion. If it's wrong, it's due to the fact that all of these posts are a bit confusing. LOL. Image Unavailable, Please Login
