A stupid question. As the vintage cars get older how many rebuilds could be done before engine is finally done

Considering that some worn parts get replaced while others get refurbished, as long as there is money, there really is no finite end point.

As long a the original major stationary (non moving) parts such at the block, heads, oil pan, manifolds valve covers remain, all the moving parts and things like cylinders and liners, valve guides, seats, bearings hoses, fuel and oil lines can and are being replaced. The only really important numbers seem to be the outside and internal engine block numbers, though these are on occasion are restamped. Fortunately most of these re-stampings can be detected.I am sure other parts will be discussed. tonga's crew
