We own $16 trillion and it'll be over 20 by the time he leaves office. Espadas will never appreciate quite that much ... LOL
Yep, that's my old car. It's a BMW color from the early '00s called Oxford Green. Just heard from the current owner in Germany. Says he put 12k miles on it last year. Guess I built the engine well enough. AR
AR, Thank you for your confirmation about the Oxford Green color on your ex-Espada. Did you put miles on your new Espada as well? I like your Espada videos. By the way, I am looking to buy an Espada. Let me know if any private owners want to sale in the US. Tom
Yes, I drove my current car for about a year with the engine out of the parts car, then the parts car got restored by Bob (as has been documented here) and I gave him back the engine, so now I'm in the process of rebuilding my numbers-matching engine. If I hear of any, I'll let you know. If you really start looking around, they come out of the woodwork. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great vid, thanks. It makes me wonder about the performance of these beautiful 40 year old machines. Has any of the owners here ever tested what's left of the top speed (it was supposed to be around 155 mph when new). And acceleration 0-62 mph? Not that it has great importance, the beauty lies in it's overall appearance, the sound of the engine, but nevertheless, I'm curious Anyone?
Not top run for me. No place to do it and that should really be done with a fresh engine with new internals. As for 0-60, well let's just say that it makes great noises but not so great progress. That engine is no off the line torque monster. It's much better once you're at 80 mph and want to really feel the full range of the motor. The roads over here don't favor that sort of driving except out west. The looks you get are fantastic though. George Jetson would feel right at home.
GUS i Illinois had his S2 up to 130 MPH and he stated lots of peddle left then had to aim for his off ramp . Large balls on him i guess.... Gary Espada 8394 EtypeFHC 887465
Considering V12 & gearbox are the same with Jarama, I pushed my GTS several times at 7.000 rpm in 5th... no more than 242 km/h on tacho... considering it lies by 20 km/h more, it is a figure far away from the official litterature. I remember when I was a kid that my father did many times 260 km/h on his GTS, but his engine was more fresh than mine. To come back to Espada, here is an article from AUTOCAR 12th July 1973, in which they wrote 155MPH... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just to keep everyone informed about the market for Espada cars, a red/tan S3 (VIN 9222) was sold on Sunday (12/16) for $39,200 on eBay. The seller invested over $100,000 since 2004, a big lost of 60K. A great buy for the winner. I wasn't watching that closely, so are you saying it had a BIN of $52K near the end? How high was the bidding then?
$ 52.000 not too much when I compared with European transactions... I know 2x S3 recently sold for 49 and 57.000 , that means from $ 63.700 to $ 74.100
Yes, this person 1***6( 12) "snapped it up". Let's see if the "sale falls through" and it reappears ...
