Oliver I hope Colin made you a decent coffee! Has he put the gearbox in the right place and re installed the dash the right way up? Still a way to go as I have a popping valve and need the head off to sort it. what were you doing at Colins? I was in UK to drop my Islero Le Mans at custom roll cage (Daventry) in order to have it built to FIA spec... I will come back to pick it up in begining of August ! On my way back I pay a visit to Colin... as you now I'm travelling often and I'm taking the time to discover so many Lambo fellows...

This one was taken yesterday in "oldtimer valais" a nice meeting in Sion. I've covered more than 1'000 km for my first week in the Espada, a fantastic car indeed. I'm considering purchasing an Espada. Are parts available to keep the car in good running condition? For example wear and tear items like ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings, shocks, bearings, brake pads and rotors, starter motor, alternator, water pump, ignition coil, points, distributor caps, carb rebuild kits, engine gasket sets. My previous experience with vintage cars has been Fords and Mercedes. I understand that I may have to pay more for Lamborhini parts, but if they are not available at all or difficult to locate that would discourage me from owning an Espada. I'd like to drive the car 2-3 thousand miles per year. I'll work on the car myself. Thanks Dave

Hello Olivier, The two cars are very different. In a nutshell, the Islero feels like a hot rod, very powerful, quite light, compact, almost nimble and not at all intimidating at all to drive. The driving position is almost perfect for me. The Espada is much more refined, the noise level is very low, there is a lot of space inside (especially for the kids!), the commands are very smooth. It has air conditionning, power steering and it really feels like a limousine. However, it is a very large car, a bit intimidating at first because of its size. The driving position is not so good as it is the typical "italian monkey" position: long arm short legs. You get accustomed to it but it is less good than the Islero. On the other hand, the beauty of the Espada is that while it is very refined, it transforms into a real sports car when you press the throttle: impressive. An other point is that the Islero is very discreet, nobody notice it, which I like. I can park it everywhere without any trouble. On the contrary the Espada draws a lot of attention, I get nice comments each time I take gas! Have a nice evening. Ed.
Dave I am doing exactly as you are wishing to do . I don't do the work myself and spend approx 2000.00 per year on stuff . This I should mention is after restoration. Lots of parts available just ask here and we will help .knock on wood this car has never left me stranded in 4 summers and over 14000kms of spirited driving . Thanks Kevin, yes delivered new to Italy, I saw the original Italian registration today. It is still blue metallizato, but I wasn't sure of the interior... senape... I drove it this afternoon... not bad for a family Lambo... I reach Ed's opinion !!!

Thanks Gary, I've started looking. Not many cars for sale right now. One recently popped up on ebay but the interior is a mess. Although the interior can be redone I suspect the rest of the car was treated no better. -Dave

The car on eBay is a series one ! I would do serious investigation on it . At the end of the day the only question left is " after you get it home how much are you willing to spend? " if your not concerned about current values and wish to end up with a truly great 4 cam 12 cyl 6 weber Italian classic attached to a truly outrageous body design which will give you years of pleasure , them pull the trigger! I met Gary Bobileff a few days ago to look at the Espada he has for sale. I agree, nice guy and a nice shop. I'm considering that car, it had some issues but overall a good starting point. -Dave
That car has traded hands a LOT the last couple of years. Chrome titties and a big box of an AC unit in the back. That spells lousy resale unless you're willing to rip all that stuff out. But if the AC is working it will be the Espada with an AC system that actually works. If you're brave buy the series one and expect to sink at least $150K into it. Some mechanical parts are available as reproductions. If you need things like fenders, misc trim pieces and glass it's a PITA. Check out Eurospares as they have a couple of parts cars. So ask them for some quotes on stuff. It's an expensive car to fix as there is a lot of it!
