hmm, that's completely the opposite from the story I was told. If you know more PM me. I don't see why Gary wouldn't be truthful about that. I would rip out the bumperettes. The AC wasn't working when I saw the car. I'm looking for the best car available and can wait until it comes along. I will put some money into it to bring it to where I'd like. I'm not interested in a full restoration project.
Sounds like the optimistic refrain of most Espada searchers. Unless you get a car that's been completely gone through, there are few, you will be spending plenty to fix stuff. These cars are the "deferred maintenance" champions because they are expensive to work on and have had a low value for a long time now. The value part seems to be changing thanks to some good restorations from folk Like Gary, John Harden, and apparently there was a spectacular example at the Giro event which purportedly sold for a LOT of money because a collector had to have it! There is a lot of car there so it costs more to bring back than some others. Not trying to discourage you but you should be realistic. I think that car was originally for sale a couple of years ago out of Virginia? The description was impressive back then and it was being sold to benefit a charity or something. If that was a different car I'd be surprised. How many have that AC conversion in the rear? Then it went to Texas and now Gary has it? I'm not saying it's a bad car just that it seems to have moved between dealers a lot. Nature of the game these days. Espadas still aren't hot sellers. BTW, I have a friend who says he road in that car years ago when the system was working and he says it worked like an ice box. Think about how you would remove those steel titties. Ask for a price from someone who can do it. Bob Huber is on here. He's a very talented guy and I think I might start with him. Have a look at the S3 Espada he brought back from a total. I would encourage you to go to Concourso Italiano this year and look up the Lambo guys. You will be able to see some Espadas that get maintained by their very knowledgeable owners and John will be there with his fully restored S2. You can learn a lot there. Good luck and be patient. They very cool cars.
Apologies if this has been posted already. This car has been in the basement of the Petersen Museum for a number of years. I inspected it about five or six years ago and was delighted to find that its chassis number was very close to my old car (7323). Being an S1 in decent condition it'll probably fetch top-ish dollar. " The tan leather seats show some use, but are entirely presentable, as is the matching dashboard." That's tan? Yes it looks nice Aaron from what can be seen. No spinners?
Being a museum Lamborghini you should expect to have plenty of recommissioning work to do. But it is a nice clean looking example.
This red one is pretty early. It has the lever & spring style hatch window supports and the front quarter windows open! Have Bob Huber build you a set of rear louvers and they'd look correct on that car. Pictures are awful quality. Lamborghini : Other 2 door coupe in Lamborghini | eBay Motors
Bob is correct...that early S1 Should have the rear slate grille. As you can see from the photos...the glass is installed from the inside. I think that that most of the early cars are missing it because of the hassle of cleaning the rear vertical glass. I would be happy to make one for the new owner. It makes the car look complete. Hello, I was looking at the pictures and noticed that the upper outlets seem to be missing? The S1 has four roof outlets. Not to bore anyone, the S1 has 2 evaporators in the quarter panels. Air enters through the quarter panel trim and exits through the rocker panel and roof outlets. The S1 does not have air-conditioned air coming out of the dash. The design is good on paper but the application was poor. I worked on Mike's S1 and the system can work with a lot of effort. I hope the new owner will put this car back on the road where it belongs. A hit of what is to come from sitting in the basement of a museum for years. Apparently the driver's window doesn't work (note the window crank in the door).
There are only two types of Espadas, those that have had their window mechanisms rebuilt and those that are going to. AR
Thanks John for this nice "Verde metallizato", it is bright and dark too depending of the light. I like it also because it gives the 70's touch on this S3.

Could you post some detail photos of the louvers? My S1 is missing them as well. One of my favorite Espada features.
Well, Final price $61,100 on the S1 Espada on ebay. Pretty healthy price on a relatively unknown car. Looked pretty promising though! Anyone here actually seen it?
I talked to the seller over the phone. He said the car was bought from an estate along with a Ferrari (308?) and some other car. He thought the car had been sitting for 4-5 years. But it ran well. Said "fastest car he's ever drove!". He assured me the car was rust free and complete (no tools, manuals or service records). Said he had a lot of overseas interest from Germany and Australia. My guess is the car sold to an overseas buyer. I watched the final minutes of bidding but didn't bid myself. Car went from $41,000 to $61,000 during the last minute of bidding. Reserve was somewhere around $45K. Perhaps if I had seen the car in person I would have bid. Currently no regrets.
I talked the owner out of parting it and bought it for myself a while back - its running now but still not drivable. Needs clutch and brake hydraulics and the distributor has an internal short. Surprisingly good engine though. Not planning a full restoration but at least want to get it on the road. Would be nice to drive one daily for a while and see what its like to live with.
Good, I'm glad it's still around. As far as the Ebay S1.....see Bob's post. Unless one of the good bidders steps up. You guys are the pros with these models but I think (from watching for over 10 years $61k is a very far stretch. We've had cars in excellent condition sell for less. That S1 was in ok shape.
I spoke to the owner on of the S1 on eBay. The pictures showed a tired car. The owner's story was less than confidence inspiring. Taking pictures of a wet car on the sight is dishonest. I'm trying hard to buy an Espada and walked way from this one. I will be surprised if it doesn't re-appear on eBay. Poorly bought and poorly sold.
