Well it was still interesting, sheesh do get so touchy. But it's just that there's a n ever continuing debate about the since of "some" of the original tires that came on the early ones. Mine had a well abused tire still on an original rim replete with green body color spilled all over the rim and tire was huge! It was about an 80 series tire.
Was this car owned by Arthur O'Bryan at some point? I recall speaking to his son who told a story of purchasing the glass roof car from a mechanic's shop after it was abandoned. Very much a case of being at the right place at the right time...I don't know if its true or not. IIRC he mentioned the Princess Grace connection as well.
A more complete story can be found earlier in this thread. When I researched it I don't remember anyone of that name. I dealt with the granddaughter and her husband who inherited the car. I believe her grandfather bought it from the original owner, a Wynns distributor, but I don't know that for certain. Her grandfather had it for quite a while and took her for rides in it.
Sorry, because I rarely peruse this thread, I just thought I had made a blatant re-post by your comment of "what's new about this?" Here it is again. I agree its interesting, that's why I posted it. The sticker was what was most interesting to me. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh, that's cool. The ship date on my car is April 20, 1970, so it was in the plant when that letter was drafted. Wish it had those stickers. Historical nerd fact: Apollo 13 splashed on April 17, 1970.
Here is S3 #9118 that was offered last year by MEHEN Automobiles for 65.000 and now advertised for 83.000 ... Lamborghini Espada S3 as Sports Car/Coupe in Jesteburg
How can I track down my dads 1970 Espada numbers? I dont have any documents. 1970 last plate CA, was DAVEY .. sold in So Cal in the late 80s or early 90s. As it was bought new would the fcactory have any way of looking it up?
provide as much as possible détails, date, location of delivery, dealer name, original color combination...
If it makes you see it differently, that was one day before my 1st birthday. I probably have Super8 footage from that day, as it happened in one corner of West Bloomfield, Michigan.
I'm no longer looking for an Espada. I Just bought an immaculate low mileage 2001 Diablo 6.0 today! Totally different car, and totally different aspect of the car hobby. I'll spend my time pampering the Diablo instead of restoring an Espada. I'll still keep an eye open for a nice Espada, but Im sure the wife wouldnt allow it anytime soon. Thanks everyone for your advice along the way. -Dave
I'll say. One goes very, very fast and the other ... it's more about unique and exotic style. It's also has wonderfully compliant and comfortable ride, very GT oriented.
Awesome period press image featuring gold Espada, hopefully not a re-post, and if it is, perhaps re-post worthy! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Espada Gods; I emailed Ansa Classic as my muffler packs are rusting now after 4 years of fun . They want 1380.00 Euros for each rear side !! that's about 4k can before shipping duties and tax ....................................................whew Maserati source has some but they are incorrect in that the tips are too close together and almost touch each other also stainless is a little quieter ... Stebro in Canada is in trouble and has rec'd MUCH bad press regarding deliveries not happening etc . Any decent alternates out there Gary Espada 8394
Which portion is bad just the resonator tips? Maybe some photos? There is a guy on Ferrarichat who had a very good copy of his Ferrari mufflers made up in stainless with black wrinkle and the tips looked exact. I bet it wasn't cheap though. I bought NOS ANSA tips off of eBay (not so easy) and had them welded on but then my rear mufflers were still OK. I wrinkled painted everything except the chrome portion of the tips. You saw it last year at Pocono. Tips aren't quite as long as stock but hey ... this is what a LOT of Espada guys have done as well. Moisture settles at the back of tips and rots them out.
its actually the pack itself ! but I do notice where the Y is there is spotting which usually means a lot worse in side . Mine are originals and still have the Lamborghini plate welded on as well . there was one on ebay (LH) but I already have a spare left hand side . I only need the right side then I will get both painted.... Gary 8394
I may just wait til winter and send to Bobileff to reconstruct if nothing else comes along ... Gary 8394
LOL, you shaking your head told the story of getting disgusted. My wife and I watched with the same head shaking. After what was discussed on here prior to auction, we were shocked that whoever was bidding had to have known all the bad stuff. I can tell you this after doing ALL hydraulics on my Jarama, that car needed it ALL too and no time to get it done by auction time. The sick thing is that red S1 on craigslist went for 25k or less and needed resto, this at 64k was a very bad buy, imo. You did right to walk away and should have stopped sooner. Congrats on the other car.
For a few years, Art Jr and I kept in touch and met up twice. We had been going after the same Jarama at he time. His family had 3 at time of purchase including one or 2 sunroof cars. I think one was a beautiful brown with dark brown leather with, like, 3000 miles on it and looking brand new. Car was to drool for. Yes, same story about the Espada. He happened to be at Wil's shop and wound up buying it. And they sold to the owner of the matching Miura. But how that happened is up in the air. Art and his father have quite a few vintage Lambos in FLA.
